I love camouflage clothing, especialy the pants/shorts. I have worn them since a young teenager with a pair of jungle combat boot about everyday of the week. I wear blue uniforms at work but on the weekend it CAMO and boots. Now what I'd like to Know is what Camo pattern is your favorite. It can be any era, any country or any military branch or it could be a strictly hunting pattern, just share your favorite.
Let me start off with mine- my all time favorite is got to be the vietnam tiger stripe. This had the slanted pockets on the shirts and had to have the matching boonie hat. My buddies and I wore BDU's to high school so much, they named a day for us, Camouflage day, where everyone could look just like us. Anyways today its very hard to find the real tiger stripe but it will always be my favorite. Nowadays, I stick to the ACU digital, the pants are really nice with the calf pockets. I do like some of the foreign stuff, czech, russian, and german, but mainly US army and marines digital is what I own. Well lets hear what you like?

All time fave? Rhodesian. Can't find it for love nor money nowadays.
Second, that is easily available, and a good desert/scrub pattern is Natural Gear. I have plenty of that. Alos ike Digital Desert, good pattern, but I think, actually, Natural gear is slightly better.
I keep waiting for Trident to get in thier new BDUs in Rhodesian...been waiting four years...wish someone else would make it again.

MARPAT
-
"Snakeskin" I believe was the brand name. Coolest lookin' camo I ever saw; it really did look like the natural sand-on-sand camo of a sidewinder...
-
cadpat is the coolest.

Multicam,(not camo). Got some Tru Spec pants in that pattern and they blend in well to the surroundings. I don't have the Crye Multicam but here's some photos. It's like a "where's Waldo" but with camouflage. http://www.multicampattern.com/gallery

Quite honestly, look at deer. They are brown and move through brushy country with incredible stealth. They really don't need our commercial camouflage. The military plaid with this and seem to be in an ongoing chase for a good or better pattern. The reality is that it is largely terrain driven and situation driven.
In Vietnam, the NVA wore khaki with green local material tied to it not unlike the Japs in World War 2. We would bounce on them and they were a near to spot. The sappers at night were the worst.
The other lesson is make use of local material, stealthy movement, and with any general pattern will work. One pattern not seen much anymore that worked well in green foliage were the old tiger stripe pattern. I still like it in the woods.

I know I posted earlier, but, going through the Forum, while I'm mending I rethought this matter. My favorite camo for my line of work Polo Shirt, Sport coat and Khaki/Sand/Dark Earth Trousers. MARPAT tends to stand out outside Corporate Board rooms. :)

Ah, true "urban" camo. Me, large loose t-shirt, blue jeans, boots, and a ball cap, blend in the crowd. :)

I just got some new Danish M84 Flecktarn fatiques from Europe this summer. They are dark, but work well in heavy brush and pines.
-
Nice, pics?

Here's a comparison photo of Danish M84 and U.S. issue-

The pants are cut real slim and tight, unlike comfortable U.S. fatiques. And the sizes offered for sale are for small waist sizes, unlike the XXXL sizes our military offers. The numerous knockoffs of fatiques and hats are a shade lighter and don't match well. Gore Tex parkas and web gear are non-existent to buy for civilians.
I took the red flag off of my jacket. It was like a beacon in the woods.
In winter I wear Mossy Oak here in the Midwest. It's sold at Walmarts everywhere and works great in heavy timber.

Not bad, but way dark. The story is interesting, too.
My woods stuff is Natural gear
-
I like RealTree AP. It blends into multiple terrains. Natural gear works good too. I thought it was horrible when I first saw it, but after comparing it to the local brush, I noticed it wad pretty good.
In my opinion, most camo patterns are too tight/small. It seems to me that larger patterns break up your outline better. I have experimented with different brands by taking pics of each other in the sticks, adorned in full battle (hunting) dress. It puts it in a better perspective to me.

ASAT would work for you, then. http://www.asatcamo.com/ (http://www.asatcamo.com/)

From the pictures I have seen, Multi-Cam may be the most versatile pattern available. I would like to see some pictures comparing Multi-Cam to the Atacs pattern. The other patterns I like I made by Sitka Gear, though I don't have any real world experience with them because they are wicked expensive.

My favorite is British desert DPM just cause it looks really cool O0
-
Actually, yes it does look cool. So does Czech Republic desert camo, which I've also been trying to get. :)
-
with all that global warming and stuff - might also want to consider some decent snow camo
got a fave snow camo ?
-
Always liked Vietnam era tiger stripe.
-
That's been reborn in a lot of different colors, and some people love it. 8)
-
Good ideas all around. I've found that outline breaking is more important than pattern or coloration.

I agree! That's why Predator has always been one of my favorite's.
Here's a good read on it.

I'd say best as in most effective I've seen (or not seen lol) is Multicam, however ATACS is equally as effective as far as I can tell. Until it is fielded by a notable military or LEO unit I'd lean towards multicam. Now if we are talking 2nd kind of cool, I'd say ATACS Urban or ACU Urban Digital. Personally, I can't afford either so I am using a combination of woodland and my old ACU's. The ACU's suprisingly work will in the winter as they kind of blend in the the dead brush you find in abundance in the winter however when things are bright and green not so much lol.
-
That "Predator" is the best IMO, it follows the idea that has always made the most sense to me, that is high contrast to break the outline.

I have seen the A-TACS camo pattern and think it looks pretty nice. Has anyone seen/bought any. What do you think of it?
