Well I got it today and it was about what I expected in terms of looks - used but good. I went to cycle it andit got stuck, locked in place. After examining it the safety is bent so it does't fit on correctly and the safety latch can slide out of its recess in th safety and get lodged under the slide. Has anyone else had a problem like this?
I'm glad I noticed this, it would be bad if I had tried to fire it like that. Best case it just wouldn't cycle. Worst case the safety latch or side of the slide shatters/breaks.
So I looked into getting a new safety but they are $69 from CZ USA, which is a bit much on a $200 gun. I think I'm going to have to end up exchanging it for another.

Where did you get it from?
-
Figuring the costs of shipping, FFLs etc., it may be cheaper to replace the part. I can't really picture what's happening, but you may be able to bend the safety back into proper place. It's a pretty tough piece of metal, not MIM or cast like some parts in guns.

I bought one recently that had a bad mag release. Didn't tear it down to fix it but I called up CDNN and they had me a label for shipping the next day. I sent it in and they sent another pistol. Granted since it was a different gun I had to do the transfer again but that is the law. Cant shake that one. 15 bucks and I had one that worked flawlessly in a little over a week's time. But I will say those safeties are quite strong. I couldn't image something bending that thing. So the company you bought it from should take it back.

I also think that your seller should make things right (though you should remember that there's sort of a statute of limitiations on things like this - you may need to contact them soon.) But if you do end up taking care of it yourself, I know that buymilsurp.com has a lot of used cz 82 parts for pretty reasonable prices. Can't say if it's exactly what you'd need, but they've got safety parts for only $18.00.

I've never bought anything from them, so I can't say anything more about the company except that that's a lot better looking number than the $69 you cited.
Good luck, once you get this resolved you're going to have a great gun that will make it all worthwhile!
C.C.
EDIT: I looked a little closer, and I guess that's probably NOT the part you'd need after all. Maybe this one? No pictures - very frustrating...

The peice I need is the U shaped rocker that has the thumb switch on it and goes around the bac of the gun, it is just called "safety" in all the parts diagrams floating around. It is spread out. I might be able to bend it back but would rather not try.
I didn't know about buymilsurplus, that might be aother option.
I did contact the seller and sent some photos and a description of the problem. I puposely left their name off here until I see how they handle it. They will either get props or flames in the next few days.

that sucks, hope it works out well for ya.

Before you "flame" the seller, you do realize you bought a 1980s surplus, foreign-made firearm, right? Unless it was advertised as "like NIB" there's always some wear and tear.

Keep us updated and let us know how things develop. I think pushing on through all this and seeing it to the end, you're going to end up with a great little firearm.
Good luck.
