Title: Behind Enemy Lines, a CZ100 Finds a New Home
Post by: Forever-A-Soldier on February 12, 2011, 11:19:57 PM
First post on the CZ forum.  I'm a California resident and for those of you unfamiliar with this communist state, we have an "approved safe handgun" list.  The CZ100 isn't on it, so if you are to own one, you need to find someone in the state who has one.  Well I lucked out and found a guy was willing to sell me his!  So after a 10-day wait (yeah that sucks too here in the PRK), I'll be a proud owner of one of these unique CZ's.  It's in great shape and got it for $250 with 6 Promags.  I've already got a factory mag ordered and haven't decided what I'm going to do with the Promags yet.

I hope you were wearing a mask when you stole that CZ100! That is a great deal.

Oh, and welcome to the board.

Hello and welcome.  A new member with a new pistol is required to post photos and a reange report. ;D

Welcome from West Virginia, where the state gun laws make sense - they even let me carry!  You'll find lots of great info on this forum and very civil people - post some pics and a range report after you first fire it!

Good job F-A-S.  I spend 12 years out there in Koo Koo land when I was in the Navy.  I was an adventure buying a handgun (eek I said handgun!)  Then trying to find a place to a shoot was almost as bad.  I'm back home in South Carolina now and can actually protect myself.

You'll have a ball with your 100.  Have fun.

Nice find!

The CZ100 isn't on [the approved list]
I guess that this means that you're officially an adult who doesn't seek approval to make yourself happy!!  ;D
Welcome aboard.  CZ100s are way under-rated.

UPDATE:  So took it to the range today.  Not really wild about the trigger but that's ok, don't plan on shooting it much anyway.  Also, cut my finger when I racked the slide.  Guess the adjustable rear sight caught my thumb.  Accuracy was good in slow fire.  Reminds me of the trigger on the Taurus PT 24/7.

As for the factory mag I ordered, it arrived today and its for a .40S&W!!!  >:(  But on the bright side, one of the other 6 Promags I got turned out to be a factory 9mm mag, but with this odd "cut" in it.  This might date back to the "ban" years for the mag.

Anyway, here's a few pics:

That cut is normal, looks identical to the mags for my CZ 40b. Fine looking pistol you stole!

You are correct FAS. The 9mm mags were originally made with the cut to prevent altering the magazine to hold more than 10 rounds. I believe CZ-USA has 13 round mags for the 9mm's. Maybe you could send the 40 S&W mag back and exchange it for a full capacity 9mm.

Rowe, the mags do look very much alike, but there is one major difference. The CZ-40b uses a CZ-75B magazine which will hold 12 rounds  (new ones). The CZ-100 magazine can only hold 10 rounds, which is why none of the CZ-100 mags ever had the cut like the 9mm mags.

Good shooting.

Glad you got the mags.  The $ helped me pick up two more 9mm 100 mags for the CZ.  Also picking up my CZ83 I just got on Friday and will try and post a "family" photo here on the CZ forum.
