Title: Can the '85 Combat trigger pull be improved without replacing the trigger?
Post by: cfpaperpuncher on February 13, 2011, 06:14:24 PM
I noted CZCustom has a replacement trigger...but to stay production I can't. But I can get work done. Can the 85 combat's trigger pull be smoother without replacing parts?

yes it can.
however in both IPSC and USPSA production division it is legal to replace parts.
springs, CZ comp hammer, ext firing pin can be changed.

where are you from, just so we know if you are under ipsc or uspsa rules.
replacing the trigger will do nothing to the trigger pull.
lighter main spring (13 if using federal primers on handload, 15 for averything else including factory) will lighten the trigger pull.
this will make a noticable differance and cost you bugger all. you can do it yourself in 10 mins.

next would be the comp hammer, gunsmith needed if you know know what you are doing. makes the single action very nice.

a few thousand trigger pulls will smooth things out a little too.

you guys are right - it isn't the trigger at all it's the hammer that Angus replaces. Did not know you could replace that in USPSA. But I also am interested in IDPA as well so would want to be legal for both.

I'll check out the mainspring idea first and see how that works out.
