Title: Spring Rate of Tactical Sports .40 cal
Post by: Hidef1080 on February 17, 2011, 08:19:34 AM

Does anyone know what the recoil spring rate is for a stock CZ 75 Tactical Sports .40 cal?
Also, if I wanted to go with a ?custom? spring [heavier than stock] where would a be able to order one?
I've checked Wolff Springs and both CZ-USA and CZ Custom but I did not see any recoil springs for the Tactical Sports.

Would I even need a heavy spring if I shoot 165 at 1050fps?

My fear is cracking the frame.
When I pull the slide back it just feels ?light? to me.
Plus my gun does not have a buffer so I don't want to shoot it just yet if there is a chance I may damage it.

Any input would be appreciated.

first, never use a buffer. it's junk.

second, did you call them directly? they may be able to help you. wolff gunsprings may also be able to help.

Springs are the same as in the 75B.
the frame won't crack, the slide stop takes the brunt of the force.
also consider, too heavy of a spring will put excessive force on the slidestop from the other direction.

I usually run a 12# to 14# spring in a gun with a major load and ejection pattern and front sight recovery will determine which I end up going with.

Outstanding!
I never knew that the slide stop took on part of the energy on the slide moving backwards.
I always thought that on the way back the recoil spring was the only thing between the slide and frame which is why I wondered about a heavier spring and buffer.
Good to know!

Thank you all for the input.
