Title: My 82 work in progress

This was my first CZ I purchased about 3 months ago.  I got this for $150 from CDNN in fair condition.  The finish was awful and the grips are were scraped up but I fell in love with the gun and wanted it new again.  Now all I lack is some grips and white paint on the sights.  I really want to find some aluminum AL style grips like I have on my Shadow.  Well here it is.  Chromed slide, frame, and trigger guard and all other parts professionally blued.

My favorite touch is the blued firing pin holder thing (don't know the proper name)
Worst thing is the pin that the trigger pivots on was lost so I rigged one up by cutting a spare 1/16 punch I had.  I hate it but now im on the hunt for pin and grips.  Any Ideas?  I'm scare of wood on the 82 and would like to avoid them but the the plastic standards don't compliment the work I have put into it.

Gorgeous job. I really like how the chrome slide contrasts with the blued sights. Brownells sells a hi-viz type fiber optic front sight which fits the 82/83, about $30 or so. How is the mag relase, does it feel gritty when you push it?

Try CZ-USA for a replacement trigger pin.

Got a Little room to go.  But I was very impressed with the hard/brush chrome. The contrast compliment well I think.  The picture doesn't show it well but the top of the slide is hard where the flat sides of the slide is brush like the frame and trigger guard.  Another awesome part is the slide brush was done horizontally while the frame is brushed vertically and the trigger guard goes back to horizontal.  Also the mag release has a little play but I had to remove some grip material on the inside where the screws go to have drop free release.

thanks for fixing the pic.  this was my first pic post.  The finish is actually chrome over nickel.  This finish should outlive me and I just turned 23 2 days ago.  ;)

go for it stuart.   It is very close to my favorite. 82 vs shadow is hard to choose.

Nice. I DuraCoated two 82s. Instead of white, try applying a coat of DayGlo-Orange over a white basecoat. It will stand out much, much better in dim light and light backgrounds. Model paint works well.

A company called Elite Custom Plating and Weaponry.  or ECPW.  You can google them and see their work.  fortunately I am local to the company and Duane is a great man to do business with.  As with any custom work, good work takes good time but I'd recommend him.  All his chrome is chrome over nickle so you get the best of both worlds.

Chrome is typically applied over nickel. Chrome doesn't adhere to metal well, but does to nickel, thus using nickel as a base coat.

While I normally like wood grips, I think the CZ 82 Kevlar grips a member of this forum makes would look pretty good on your "work in progress"CZ 82 . . . his web site is:
