I have just purchased my first CZ. I have noticed a few pictures of other members CZ97 that have front serrations on their slides. Is this a new model of CZ97 or did these people get this done by a gun smith. If this is after market who can I talk to to get this engraved into my gun? I really like the look of the front serrations not to mention that it makes it very easy to check the chamber. Also I saw a picture of a CZ97 that had a satin finish. I know that they do not offer this finish from the factory. I do not know whos gun it was but it was BEUTIFUL. As a matter of fact I am using it as my wallpaper. Was this a custom job or did they use a Duracoat - Molycoat finish on it?

That's a model change.
Getting it done means cutting through the finish and into the metal, which means getting the gun refinished. (If your gun is polycoated, it can't easily be fixed, and if its High Gloss Blue, the slide will have to be reblued.)
Front serrations look nice, but they are more cosmetic than functional: if you want to confirm whether there's a round in the gun, you can 1) use the loaded chamber indicator, or 2) you can do a "press check."
Either way, it can be done without using front serrations.
(That said, I also don't want to do anything that puts my hand near the front of a loaded gun when my other hand is near the trigger, too.)

I agree with Walt. Although if you want the look of the front serrations and are going to get it refinished anyway then its a matter of prefference. I believe most members here would recomend Fords Guns (http://www.fordsguns.com) for refinishing by the way.
Be safe,

They look nice, but I never use them.

I actually got to read this topic yesterday, about 4 hours after i finally was able to get my 97B, and viola the first thing i noticed about it is the front serrations.
Mines out of the box, however, the inspection and quality control report indicates that the gun was tested late 2002, meaning this was made 2002 (i assume). I realized then that CZ do issue 97B models with an incorporated front serrations.
If you really like the front serrations thingy, why not get one that already has a factory intalled front serration
although i do understand that this is quite a silly idea given that you already have purchased your 97B
. Just my 2 cents though.
