Title: Lighter Hammer Spring Available for 97B...
Post by: n-65x55mm on December 04, 2005, 08:59:48 PM
Just picked up my first 97b and was wondering if anyone makes a lighter hammer spring for this beast?

Is the spring the same weight and a 75b or is it a different spring weight?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

The 97B utilizes the same recoil and hammers springs as the 75B.

Both the 97B and 75B have 20 lb. factory hammer springs; you can purchase lighter hammers springs at Wolff Gunsprings here (http://www.gunsprings.com/SemiAuto/EAANF.html#EAAHammer).

Alternatively, if you do not mind modifying a factory part, you can progressively cut down the factory hammer spring until you achieve the desired results. Do keep in mind, however, that you run the risk of cutting off too many coils and making the spring too light to reliably ignite the primers.

By the way, welcome to CZForum!

I have not had good luck with lighter hammer springs in 97B's.  Both of mine have occasional light strikes with anything lighter than the stock one.  I was using Win primers, and I could switch to Federal, but I don't want to.

This could turn into its own thread but other than the hammer spring, any other way to lighten the DA trigger pull.  (I've already massaged all metal to metal contact)

Thanks!!
