I like the prices I see for buying Wolf and PMC .45 ammo
in bulk. Do they perform ok in the CZ 97B? I don't plan to do any match shooting or anything, just plinking.
-
Personally, I don't like to use Wolf because of the laquered steel case.
I have no experience with PMC.
Generally, I buy Sellier & Beliot(sp) or Federal American Eagle.
I'm a pretty boring guy, I only shoot 230 FMJ rounds in whatever brand.
-
They new wolf is coated on a black polymer which is OK. I would use it but I can get Independence brand ammo that I like better for about a dollar more per 50. I would use the new wolf but would not use the stuff with the green laquer on it personaly. I would go CCI Blazer instead. It can not be any worse than dirty white box fro Wal-mart.
-
I really like CCI/Blazer. Semi-hot, consistently loaded, and accurate. Not as dirty as WWB or Wolf. Also like Sellier & Bellot.
-
<lowers head and raises hand> Yeah I pretty much shoot the cheap Winchester ammo from Walmart in the white box. hehe...
But honest to goodness for plinking and general target shooting I've never had a problem with it lol..

I actually really like the PMC fmj. I've been shooting it for a long time, in particular my kimber goldmatch, believe it or not, actually groups really well with it.
I am not a fan of wolf ammo for pistols.. although I don't mind it for my revolvers.

As for Wolff Ammo in general, I try to stay away from it! The only Wolff Ammo I tend to use is their 7.62x39 in my AKM and SKS, but if I have a choice I'll use the East German Surplus or Barnaul. ( I'm shooting up the Wolff 7.62x39 and .223 I have on stock and will not be buying any more.)
As I reload, I don't buy much .45 ACP Practice ammo. But if I did not, these would be my preferences, in the order shown.
1.) Magtech 230 grn FMJ
2.) S&B 230 grn FMJ
3.) Federal 230 grn FMJ
4.) PMC 230 grn FMJ
5.) CCI Blazer Brass 230 grn FMJ
6.) WWB 230 grn FMJ

When I first started shooting, I shot a lot of PMC and came to think it was junk. (What it probably was, was that the gun I was using just didn't like it.)
More recently, I started shooting 9mm PMC 124 gr. hardball, and I'm getting very good results -- and can buy it cheaply locally by the case.
-
Walt, is that a typo? I've never seen 124 gr hardball in .45acp, or are you refering to 9mm Nato load? On another note, have you shot the PMC 200 gr FMJ/SWC? Sounds like it would be fun plinking round (as long as it can cycle a CZ97 w/16# spring).
-
Not a typo, just a lack of clarity on my part. I was speaking of PMC as a brand, not specifically of .45 loads. Sorry.
I've amended the message above. (My original experiences with PMC were with their 9mm 115 gr. hardball; I hated it.)
-
PMC makes good ammunition, Wolff is one I would stay away from.
