I wonder for those of you who have 97Bs, how do you rate the day-in-day-out livability of the factory finishes? The blue looks gorgeous, but then so does the black.
I think I might get a glossy blue and then when it wears have it satin hard chromed.

The CZ gloss blue is about as gorgeous a "stock" finish as can be found, nowadays -- similar in many respects to the old S&W dark blue of a couple of decades ago. Very nice.
But blued finishes are a pain to maintain, and easily worn and scratched -- and the CZ finish, because its high gloss -- is at least as bad as any of them.
I prefer the polycoat -- since the 97B isn't available, yet, in satin nickel. The polycoat on the 97B is very attractive, and VERY durable.

Two questions: I've never owned a blued gun, so what does it mean that blued finishes are a pain to maintain? And, just out of curiosity, how many CZ's do you own, Walt? ;0)

Blued finishes are the most rust-prone of finishes and easily show scratches and finger marks. You find yourself constantly wiping them down.
At the moment I own an 85 Combat (satin nickel), 75B in .40 (polycoat) and a 75 Compact (satin nicke). I have a Kadet Kit. I have owned a 75B Mil, several 75 pre-Bs, several 85 Combats (one high gloss blue), several 75 compacts, a CZ-40B, a CZ-97B, and a CZ-100. Most of them have been sold to forum members, over time. I presently also have a very nice EAA Witness Sport Long Slide (in .45) with a 10mm top end, a highly customized AT 84S, a standard AT-84S, and a Sphinx 2000 compact. (All but the CZ-100 based on the 75 design.) I don't, as a rule, have more than one of a kind (of a particular model) unless I pick one up in trade for later trade.
I like CZs and CZ pattern guns, but I also like other guns, too, and have a number of them, too. I shot my SIG GSR (1911) in our last IDPA match this past Friday, and frequently shoot a Glock 34 and Browning HiPower in those matches, too.

I got the blued and it looks great but I kind of wish I got the polycoat, it's too much maintenance. I'm thinking about getting it hard chromed.

Sorry for Hi jacking this thread but.
Edit: Removed content and place in General Firearms.
Questions about SIG GSR.
I like the poly finshes on CZs.
