What spare parts might you recommend that a person keep handy for the 97b?

There hasn't been any real problems withe gun.

Given that:

1) recoil spring(s)
2) extra-strength extractor spring (from Wolff)
3) 5% extra-strength mag springs (from Wolff)
4) Trigger return spring.
5) Trigger pin

You can get some of this from Jim Miossi, and he has other pins, etc.  He recommends roll pins, I think.  I prefer them, too.

The loaded chamber indicator has been known to go "walkabout" on a few guns, and a spare part or two there MIGHT be worthwhile.

One other item if you are competing a lot and using one gun is a spare slide stop, some have been known to break.  If it does it will probably be during a match, and if you have a spare it probably will never break, if you don't have a spare it will.  Thats how my luck runs and since you are already paying shipping from CZ you might as well as add it to the order.

Walt,
Why are the roll pins preferred?

Solid pins generally must be staked, which requires at least three hands and a well-placed tongue.

None of the pins are under great stress.

Roll pins are a lot easier to work with.
