Has anyone heard if CZ plans to ever offer the 97b in a decocker/tactical version?  I'd like to see one with a light rail and a decocker.

That would be pretty cool, I almost hope they don't though because then I'll have to buy one, and I just ordered a 97B a couple days ago

I continue to think that a decocker ADDS NOTHING to a gun, that proper gun handling training or skills won't do, as least as well -- and with CZs, the decocker keeps you from doing "cocked and locked" if you should ever choose to do so.  

Decockers, to me, are sort of like wearing suspenders and a belt: fine, until you've got to go take a crap.   Then the extra "safety" factor (if, in fact, it is extra safety) is just an impediment.

The reason I want a decocker is because a lot of PDs require that you have one in order to duty carry.

And a lot of PDs don't like guns that can be carried cocked and locked.  (My son's a cop...)

I have to agree with Walt about my pesonal tastes on the decocker however a stainless 97B with a rail would be ideal for me or even just the rail. However if a gun smith could add a rail to a 1911 why could he not do it to a 97B. I have thought about buying another 97B and putting some money into it and make it a true one of a kind piece of practical useable art. Combat style instead of a safe queen or pimped out.

I have a PCR with a decocker.  I use it only to be familar with that function.  If the PCR had a manual safety I would have bought it vise the DC'er.  (I know the Compact but I like the alloy weight of the PCR.)

DA/DAO's need only a safety IMHO.  Either ambi (85/Taurus 92 Style) or right hand 1911/CZ75 style work for me.

Cocked and locked ... do ppl carry 24/7 on the belt C+L'ed?

I would only do this if I knew I was going into a hot situation and keep my finger way clear of the triiger while drawing until the moment of truth.

As for how I carry, well, when I worked for an Israeli company I carried with an empty chamber because that is the standard safety protocol taught in the Israeli armed forces, and everyone at work understood it.  

When carrying around town I follow the advice I read from Massad Ayoob's writings, where he recommeded not carrying a double-action pistol cocked because prosecutors have been known to use that fact against citizens who defend themselves with pistols.  He recommended carrying double-action pistols with a cartridge in the chamber, hammer down, and on Safe it your pistol will do that with the hammer down (CZ's don't), and to use the trigger to cock the pistol on the first shot as evidence of your lack of premeditation to shoot someone.  Another plus is that the longer, heavier double-action trigger pull is slightly less likely to result in a negligent discharge (something I definitely don't want to do, as I stated in another thread).  It seemed reasonable to me.

I do own one single-action auto (my little Beretta Jetfire 950) and I do carry that cocked and locked... when I carry it at all, which isn't very often.

I know Mas is considered an expert, but I know that he sometimes puts out a bunch of crap, too.  I've seen a lot of other experts questioning some of his statements.  Generally, I respect his observations, but...

Until I see actual proof of such a case, I'm gonna' call BS on this claim.  

If the gun is used properly in a lethal force situation, how it is carried is irrelevant.  

If you lethal force and you shouldn't have used it, then they'll use everything you've done in your life to make you look like a gun-toting lunatic, and even the brand of ammo used will come back to haunt you.

Know the law and understand your rights.  Even Mas would agree with that.
