Title: Rear sight
Post by: Unregistered(d) on March 28, 2007, 05:15:44 AM
Has anyone, or can anyone, replace the rear sight? Just curious if there was a slightly tougher looking fixed rear to replace the adjustable. With fixed sights, the CZ-100 might be the perfect SHTF pistol, simple, tough and very user friendly.

You gonna HIT someone with the rear of the gun?

Haven't heard about anybody having the sight break on a CZ-100...

CZUB's website shows a CZ  100 (http://www.czub.cz/index.php?p=32&idp=1&ids=2&idz=8&lang=en) with a fixed rear sight. Additionally, I seem to recall someone mentioning in this forum that CZ-USA actually stocks a fixed rear sight for the CZ 100. It might be worth giving them a call to ascertain if that is indeed true.

I personally like the adjustable rear sight on the CZ 100. The sight's extremely low profile doesn't seem to impair the gun's CCW capability, and actually adds to the CZ 100's overall feature set to make it a great value for the money. Offhand, I can't think of another sub-$350 semi-auto that offers compensator ports, an adjustable rear sight, an eminently tactile and visible loaded chamber indicator, a barrel stop/one-handed racking thingie and a trigger pull that builds finger muscles. :D

Edited to add: Just noticed that all of the pictures of the CZ 100 in the user manual show a fixed rear sight, and that the dovetail appears to be the same size as that for the adjustable sight.

That would be me DL. I have two of them. Unfortunately, they only fit on some of the 100's. CZ had two different dovetails for the rear sight, a small on and a large one. The replacement sight fits the large dovetail cut.

I was going to replace the one on my 40 S&W 100, but somehow I have just not gotten around to it. The adjustable one just refuses to fail. Maybe someday. I guess I am with Walt in that unless you are driving nails with the rear sight, why replace it? It works pretty darn good.

Good shooting.

I don't plan on whapping anyone with the rear sight, then again, Benito Mussulini didn't get up that morning saying, "Man,what a great day to die upside down, on fire!":eek
It was just a thought, s'all.
