Title: Couple of problems with my Shadow
Post by: youngAR on July 29, 2011, 08:36:37 AM
So I'm currently using my Shadow in the police academy and have run across a couple of problems. First is the strong side thumb safety. That thing is sharp and stiff. I've run plenty of rounds through it and have even sat on the couch and manipulated the safety. It's wearing the hell out of my thumb with the sharp edged bottom.

The second issue is the slide not locking back on all magazines. The supplied mags nor the mec-gars won't lock it back. The 16 rd. factory mags will ???. Unfortunately I can't send it back due to the last week of qualifications.

Any suggestions?

I file all my thumb safetys, that will help a lot and replace all your magazine springs with wolf 10% stronger .......good luck.

break the edges on the safety to kind of melt them in then cold blue or get the recoated.

check how those mags are engaging or not engaging the slide stop. follower needs to come up under and mag spring needs to push it up. check also if something is binding the slide stop.

I'm beginning to think that the mag problem is due to my high thumbs hold. I'll have to send it back if the safety continues to be stiff. I can polish the edge but the stiffness is more of a problem.
