Title: Can I use a .40 mag in my 9mm

Will a .40 cal mag work in a 9mm?  

If so how many rounds of 9mm will it hold?


I am looking for more capacity and was going to order a mag.  Just wanted to make sure the .40 will work with a 9mm.

If you are looking for the 12/13 round magazines, I believe CZ-USA is your only choice. Some will tell you that you might be able to use 40 S&W ProMags and load up 12 or 13 rounds of 9mm. That does work with the mags for the 75B compact. I happen to have CZ100s in both 9mm and 40 S&W plus I purchased two ProMag 40 S&W mags. I tried loading them up with 9mm, but the rounds just shot right out of the top. The mag lips were way too far apart. You could give it a try. They may have redesigned their CZ100 mags. If you decide to go the ProMag route and it doesn't work, get in touch with me. I will take them off of your hands.

You should be able to bend the feed lips a little.  (But that can be a risky adventure, as some feed lips can be very brittle.)  But, if you still have the mags and they don't work, you're not really risking much.

Bend them enough so that you can slide the tip of the 9mm round between them, right about where the case starts.  

(And as you know, but others might not, standard 75B mags won't work.  Or at least they didn't in my CZ-100.)

I have one .40 Promag CZ-100 magazine, and the feed lips on mine do retain 9mm.

I for one am glad to hear it. Mine are several years old. Maybe we do have a source for cheap 13 round 9mm mags for the CZ100.

Pro-Mag .40 mags work well with 9mm rounds.  

CZ brand  .40 mags frequently do NOT.  

It depends on the on the mag maker/brand.
