Looking to purchase either sp 01 or the shadow, when they become available, just not sure which one I need.
Gun will be used for plinking at home and range, not competitively, well maybe someday??
I like the price of the of sp-01 but could probably sneak a few extra bucks for the cz custom shadow.
Please help with decision.
Thanks so much,

I have the SP01, and love it. Like you, those were the reasons I was buying the gun as well. I then turned to the fun side of shooting competitions, and from there it was all upgrades. I've probably put enough money in the gun to equal what a Shadow would have cost in the beginning.
If you have the means to do it, get the Shadow. Trust me, I know first hand.
Don't get me wrong, you can certainly buy the SP01 and be very happy with it.

Great, thanks.
See if I can sneak a few extra ucks without the wife seeing!!
Another "newbie question", I tend to shoot alot of the cheaper ammo, mostly Blazer. Will this ammo do ok in the Shadow with the smaller spring?
Thanks Again!!

I have a SP01 Tactical and a SP01 Shadow. The Shadow is the most accurate pistol I own. After a full action and reliability job by Stuart, the Tactical is the second most accurate in my stable.
Dollar for dollar, the Shadow has a better trigger than my stock tactical and they basically cost the same after upgrading sights and doing custom work on the Tactical.
You can't go wrong with either, but +1 on the Shadow if you you can afford it.

if you can afford it..the Shadow is a better gun out of the box. it has good sights, good trigger from the factory.
the standard SP01 and SP01 tactical need a little love to be as good.
and with a bit more work they can be awesome guns.
a little love on the Shadow and you will have a phenomenal gun!

SP-01 Shadow all the way. It's an amazing gun and one of the best values in the pistol market right now. Call Rob at CZ Custom, they should have one in stock to ship to you.

Shot my Custom Shadow from czcustom.com and it's exceptional!! Fine shooter and well worth the extra dollars. I used S&B 115 gr. and was very pleased. Great pistol.

SP01 Shadow for range stuff, plinking or competing alike.
If you think HD/SD, Sp01 shadow with night sights!

I bought an SP-01 and have had my gunsmith put the new CZ custom hammer and trigger into it. Also have bought extra mags and G-10 grips. Just bought the new slide stop today from CZ custom direct. I have enjoyed getting to know my SP-01, but kind of regret not taking the plunge on the Shadow. I didn't want to get too deep into a gun that I didn't know very well. I had just sold 2 guns that had become unloved over the years to get into the SP-01. But I got it and loved it so much that I wanted to do all this stuff to it. My advice would be to get the Shadow.

What the others all said, the SPO1 Shadow.
re HD: Just my thoughts: If you can see your target, then you can see your front sight when the pistol is brought to bear.
If you CAN'T see your target, the sights don't matter.
-
1SOW, agreed on HD. I was being a bit sarcastic (or trying to be) to favour the Shadow!

Have yet to see the Shadow in stock at CZCustoms! I did however see the plain sp-01 at a local shop for 579.00. Thinking of just picking that up. It will save me over 300.00.
Does anyone have an expected date for availability?
Thanks, again!

Get the Shadow! If you can afford it get the custom version. I have one and don't regret spending the extra money at all.

Batt 57, Thanks, it's really what I would like to do but not sure if I can justify extra money right now!
What do you use yourgun for? It's too heavy as equiped for IDPA?
Thanks

I got the SP-01 Tactcal and had Stuart do some work on it for me. I really can't remember the cost but what ever it was it was worth every penny. I do not own a Shadow but I am seriously considering getting one. I would take Stuarts advice, I would get the best gun you can afford all in. If you have the cash but try to save a few bucks and are serious about shooting you will spend the money eventually and will probably cost you more in the long run.
At least thats how it has gone for me most of the time...........
Good luck which ever way you go you will be getting a fine handgun!

Yosh,
I use my gun for both IDPA and USPSA, but I primarily shoot the latter. The gun will make weight in SSP if you swap out the grips and guide rod. I'm also hoping for some changes in the IDPA rules to allow the Shadow to compete as-is.
