Title: FYI: Classifieds post limits
Post by: Grendel on May 22, 2012, 11:29:53 AM
Recently, there have been a number of ads posted by newly joined members, some even being the first, and so far, only, post. While we appreciate that this opens up chances to purchase items for the existing membership, it is also important to realize that this board is not a 'poor man's Gunbroker'. Nor is it simply a place for people to unload their items, never to be heard of again. It is a community for enthusiasts, primarily of the CZ firearm, but also for those who simply enjoy the shooting disciplines for their own sake.

Therefore, the Owners and Management of the board have decided that as of May 22, 2012:

• The use of the Classifieds to sell items is restricted to members with a post count of 25 or greater.

Please also familiarize yourselves with the other General Rules contained in the Classified section.

Thank you for your co-operation.

I am a brand new member, and recently purchased a cz p-01 compact handgun. I will abide by the rules, as well as post often. I have been searching everywhere for cz products to customize my pistol will this rule apply to buyers as well? although i probably will be posting more than required amount.

Only applies to those who wish to post an ad to Buy, Sell or Trade. Buyers have no restrictions.

Welcome to the forum.

Thank You. I am excited to be a member. If I may ask where exactly is this classified section? I really would like to see what is available for my new CZ..

Welcome from Pa.

Do a google search on the following:
- CZ Custom Shop. Great selection of after market product for your CZ

- Cajun Gun Works- Offers similar product plus DIY parts to upgrade.

Look forward to seeing your questions on the forum.

I am a new member, I really like my CZs (modified cz75 & Kadet), I enjoy this forum and I value it as a resource for information.  I would also like to place a "WTS" advertisement, but that is not an option as I have only made a few posts & I understand the rules.  I believe the policy that only permits adds to be placed by members that have made a lot of posts will tend to degrade the quality of the forum.  I think the policy fosters a lot of short low value posts by new members that would like to place an add.  Just my opinion.

[Mods Added: That may well be, but Stop and Think. Isn't 25 short, silly posts the Exact thing that automated scammers and bots cannot do ? ]

I'm a new member and this is a good policy IMO.

25 posts is not that big of a deal. I'm a member on a forum that requires you to become "verified" before you can even see the classified section. So, not only can you not post for sale/for trade threads, you can't even see what other people are selling until you become verified. It's kind of a hassle, but it weeds out 99% of spammers and scammers. A minimum post count to be able to post for sale ads is not too much to ask, IMHO.

I know there is no way to judge it,  but on NJgunforums you could message a mod and he would use his discretion if it was good for the community

Really suck to have a guy needing to pay his mortgage and wanting  to sell his Kadet  kit for 300 shipped but can't post because he doesn't have 25,posts.. Then a fellow CZer don't pay his mortgage and another fellow CZer over pays on GB

Should be able to message a mod for approval

Just an idea,  much better for everyone to keep CZ stuff within  the forum

Limits only apply to those Buying, Selling or Trading in the Classifieds section.

I understand the limit to sell I guess but even with limits, folks get burned on forums sometimes.
I've been hanging around here since 2008 but don't have much to say, but I read...a lot!.
I just call CZ Custom or Cajun Gunworks on the phone if I have questions...

It's a shame us quiet types have to offer our CZ stuff somewhere else.  :-\

Oh well...It's not my forum.
Carry on.

It's not really that hard to welcome 25 people to the forum. Just saying [emoji6]

Exactly. Instead of complaining, how about, you know...participating?

I'm a new member and understand and respect this policy. I do plan on selling in the near future. I only wish I would of registered sooner. I've been a guest user here for about 2 years.

I have been a memeber since 2010 but do not have the required posts.  Good thing I read the rules about selling.  I have a few things CZ related I was going to sell here. I have a fw posts to go.
 :)

Posting here after my month-long suspension for posting a classified ad.  ;)

Yes, I freely admit I missed reading that rule. My bad and I'm at fault for that and accept the consequences. It's a sound policy, especially on a firearms forum. It helps a little keep out the rifraff and scammers.

The one thing I'll say that is every single other forum I've been on that has such a rule, the forum is developed properly and will automatically disallow you to post in the FS section until the requisite number of posts are made by the user. It will simply not create your thread and tell you that you don't have enough posts to create an ad in the FS section.

Perhaps implementing that here would save everybody a bit of headache. In my opinion, not implementing it is somewhat lazy forum building. I see a ton of FS ads being deleted. Why not automate it as described above?

I hit my 25 posts today.  I don't know why I fixated on the target as I don't sell too much though I tend to buy more than sell.
Regardless, I dig the CZ.  They have no problem getting every model type they think the consumer wants to market quickly.  Very impressive model selections!

Does the Reply button unlock in all threads once 25 posts are made?

Mods Added:
• The Reply button is available to all users, regardless of post count.
• After 25 posts, PM and Email icons will appear under member's names in the LH margin.

New member.  Would like to buy something on the classified, but have 23 posts to go after this one!  Think you could move the hurdle down a little for the introverts?

Anyone can reply to a seller's post to inform them of your interest to purchase. All you need to do is leave a message that says "Please email me."

The 25 post restriction is only on those wishing to post an ad in the Classified section.
