Title: EAA Witness .40 compact mags in a PCR
Post by: SteveYC on May 24, 2002, 12:45:19 AM

   Yes, they _do_ work.

And you can get 14 rounds in them.

There is a caveat though. Since the the magazine isn't exactly the same shape (the witness mag has a more sudden taper), they don't drop free consistently. If you push it in all the way, you need to pull it out a little bit until you hear a click.

If you want it to drop free without adjustment, you need to have something about 1/16" of an inch on the front lip of the magazine base where it contacts the front strap. I put a small section of pachmayr rubber grip tape there and the magazine seems to drop free consistently now.
If you want to go this route, try it and then decide for yourself. These pro-mags are cheap (I paid $13 for mine) so it doesn't hurt to experiment. It will help if you are willing to do some slight polishing.

I had no feeding problems at all over the 70 or so rounds I shot through it - not an ironclad guarantee, but enough to make it worth investigating.
For range use, it is fine, and less unsightly than a full sized mag poking out.

Steve,

Are these standard 1-rnd mags, or high-cap mags?

Will these magazines fit in a CZ 100?
