The CZ 75 Compact and the Glock 19... Hard to beat!

DD: would you please care to make a comparison between the two? Size, weight, thickness, capacity, shoot ability, reliability, accuracy, etc.??????
Unfortunately I dont yet own a PCR and/or Glock, but I am working the ropes for the PCR.

No problem Carlos.
They are actually pretty close in size. The CZ is 1/10" thinner if you don't include the slide stop and safety. If you include all the levers on both, the CZ is slightly wider than the Glock but still less than 1/4" difference in width... excluding grips. The CZ grips are just over 1/4" thicker than the G19 at it's widest point.
The CZ measures 5.20" in height as opposed to the G19 at 5.00, both being measured from tip of rear sight to lowest point of mag. (ten rounder with plastic floor plate in 75) Again, less than 1/4" difference.
I ligned them up side by side with the barrell tips against a straight line for length comparison (see pic below). The longest point on the G19 is the bottom of the grip just below the lanyard hole. The 75's longest point with the barrell squared against a flat surface appears to be the grip tang at the top of the grip frame. The G19 appears to be just a tad longer using these points. Yet again, less than 1/4".
Pic for comparison...

Capacity is 13 rounds with a CZ high cap and 15 rounds with a Glock high cap. The CZ is noticeably heavier but I have no way of measuring the difference in ounces. Shootability is subjective and since I have put far more rounds through Glocks I feel more comfortable shooting the G19 at this point. Reliability has been absolute with both to this point, but again, I haven't put as many rounds through the 75 as I have the 19. As for accuracy, they are both more accurate than I am most days!
Hope this helps...

DD,
Cool little comparison..the pic comparing sizes was most interesting. The glock may have the comp. beat by a ways
in the weight dept. I am not sure how much.
I did the same kind of comparison at a gun store yesterday.
With my compact and a cz 100...they are pretty much the same size tip to tip. I am looking at my 3rd cz...(rubbing
hands togethor...deviously!) tee hee hee
shoot well
-
It really surprised me how close they actually are in size. Before putting them side by side for comparison I would have bet a paycheck that the CZ would have been considerably longer than the Glock. I would have also bet that the CZ was much thinner than the Glock. I guess looks can be deceiving.
One thing that interested me was the fact that the Glocks sight radius was quite a bit longer.
-
Well, this is an eye opening for me too, I was ready to gamble my first born to the fact that the Glock was smaller an lighter, and the CZ chunkier, but I see they are neck to neck. Hmmmm. Interesting comparison; very objective and well documented.
I was also surprised by the fact that the Glock has a longer sight radius.
Now the real difference could be in the wallet department, I bet that there is a huge difference there
Thank you for tanking the time an effort DD. Well done.

Carlos,
Being in law enforcement the Glock only cost me $399+ tax new in box with three mags. If I remember correctly the Compact was $389+ tax. Considering the fact that the Compact had a factory CZ Compact high cap in it when I bought it new, the CZ was still a much better deal!
If you don't allow for the value of the accidental high cap in the box with the new Compact there was only about $10 difference for me. For those not in LE though, there would be a more considerable difference between the two in price.
-
BIG differance with us - $549 for the G19, $429 for the CZ Compact, but no CZ hi-caps(whine).

Is $409 a good price for the PCR? The model on sale is a 9mm.
I couldn't grab one because I have my Baby Eagle .45 on order... and only one pistol per month in Kalifornia. I am just curious.
Also, in the above comparison, neither gun looks really compact. Aren't they both pretty bulky? I have shot the smallest baby Glocks and they are alot smaller. Is a 19 a medium frame?

$409 here would be a good price, there, I'd say shop around. Yes, the 19 is the mid size of the Glocks, but I can conceal a full size Clone in summer weather with no problem here in AZ - large t-shirts are great.
The baby Glocks are neat, though. They just don't fit me worth beans. I'll stick with the Compact.
Dave
-
Well, they are compact frame, not "pocket" guns, I have shot the Glock 27 small (pocket) but in the "chunky' size, you have to hold it with only two fingers, so medium to big hands cannot hold it steady enough.
-
Carlos,
I find the Glock 26/27/33 too bulky and heavy for pocket carry. They are almost too big for ankle carry in my opinion. They are awesome little pistols if they fit your hands though. I qualified higher with my back-up G27 than I did with my issued G22 last time we went to the range.
-
Where is it selling for $409? That is a great price for the Bay Area - I've been able to get a quote on a CZ 75 compact in nickel satin for $420, and the PCR generally goes for a little higher than the compact.
-
$389 with 2 ten rounders, it is the first one on the listing...I can only drool all over for one...

DD: Like you, I do find the G27 just too "beefy" for pocket carry, it is nice but I can't get a good hold and grip on it, I am afraid I will not be able to control it well and get bitten by it.
-
I have the unique opportunity to shoot virtually every flavor of Glock, as we have most of them available for rent. I have to say that oddly enough, the G30 fits and fire better for me than the G26/27. The G19 is the only one that works at all for me. I do know a buddy who carried a G27 in a body armor holster for years without complaint.
No Glock fits me well; guess I'll just stick with the CZ.

I like CZ75 pistols but I am sure the Glock 19 is the most size efficient service pistol made. I have spent a lot of money on high capacity magazines but no more. Therefore, the G19 gets my nod with 15 rounds vs 10 rounds.
When it comes to Glock Model 26/27 these little pistols are in a class by themselves. Yes, for me, they need a holster but for Stephen A. Camp he carries a Model 26 in his Dockers. My Model 27 will shoot with full sized Glocks and that isn't all bad. If you own a Model 27 you can, with minimum effort, have a 9mm, 357 Sig, and S&W 40.

Richard

Thanks DD for the informative comparison. I am presently in a dilema which of the two pistols should I choose for my personal carry. Other things to consider in comparing the two would be the price difference and the manual of arms. I still have to decide so any inputs on this subject would be highly appreciated.

Hey everyone,
Regarding which is better as a CCW....its a matter of personal preference...thats it. I WILL not slam the glock....I can shoot them as well as anything else when I can use the sights...in practicing tactical point shooting with them..I shoot HIGH...
The grip angle I cant get used too...just me.
As far as Hi Caps being expensive...you are looking at a small fortune either way....Glock LEO Hi Cap mags go for over 100 $
each....but the market seems to be flooded with them, not the case for the compact mags...The compact hi caps with Wolff springs hold 15 rnds and are flush...BTW. I have 2.
Either way....shoot well

I am glad to see this come up. Everyone is comparing Glocks to everything. I have had many Glocks and liked them. I did not think I had much advantage from my 19 to my 26. Sold the 26 and eventually the 19. I am looking for my 3rd cz. I love these pistols. How was the recoil compared to the 19. The other thing I love about the cz is the single action option. mmm.
thanks

I can throw in my $.02 as the Glock 19 is my duty weapon. I qualified expert with it, and don't mind shooting it at all, but would swap it for my CZ in a heartbeat, if I could get the suits to open thier eyes! I may buy a Glock 19 eventually because I did enjoy it, but there are at least four CZs on the list first. Recoil from the Glock is a little stiffer than the steel framed CZ, but not much as 9mm recoils light anyway. The Glock 40 has noticible recoil, but not the 19.

Deputy Dawg: Funny you should post this thread. I just finished posting on the Makarov Forum at makarov.com about my two favorite compacts: the CZ PCR and the HS2000/Springfield XD (often compared to the similar-sized Glock 19).
Here's a picture comparison:

Take care. Marko

How about a pic from the rear of the guns for thickness comparison?
Thanks
-
FWIW - The HS does not strike me as a compact gun. I would love to see the side by side also.
Now for the Glocks, I have owned three Glocks and am at present Glock-less. I sold my wife's 19 because she was not shooting it very much and I got into a three way deal with my brother-in-law to help him get a 45 Colt Officer's Model. My 23 never shot as well as the 19. LEO's who shot it found that it was not hitting at POA. Neither was it as accurate for them as the 19. The 21 is just a huge gun to carry. Great for duty weapon, but a real bear for CCW. That's my opinion.

Im having difficulty shopping for a holster on-line for a cz75 compact. However, the catalogs available are filled with a variety of models for glocks. Considering that a g19 is somewhat similar to a cz75 compact in frame, would a cz75 compact fit in a holster made for a g19?
Would it be possible that I would just simply order a holster made for a g19 to be used for a cz75 compact?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated specially from those who both have a g19 and a cz75 compact.
-
Can anybody comment on cz75pcr vs. sig228 or sig2009?
-
Some G19 rigs will fit the PCR/Compact pretty well, but check out High Noon Holsters for stuff made just for your gun.
If you want one of the G19 holsters, hand check it first.

Most good holster makers use a sizing # 2,4,6 etc....my compact and my 3953 both take a size 10. Just about any holster that is that size will fit the best. My 3953 and Compact fit the Bianchi # 10 like a glove...try it.
Shoot well
