I recently started seeing the "CONCEALED" ads running in gun rags that are just coming out. Is the .40 headed our way or are they just TEASING ME!? God the 2 tone looks good.....
Shoot well

I sent an email inquiry to CZ-USA regarding the Compact in .40S&W. Today I received the answer: it will NOT be available. I received no explanation or any further details.

I have recieved both e-mail and phone calls from CZ-USA stating that no 40 Compacts had "arrived", and the implied statemebt that none would, so I fired off an e-mail to CZUB, and may sneak a phone call to the factory if I can get away with it! I WANT MY MELT! WAAAAH! Sheesh, I've been hanging aroud a baby too long - rubbing off.

Guys, Remember that the CZ-40 Compact is supposed to be available after July 2002. Let's keep our fingers crossed on this one.

My hope is that, as the CCW movement in the USA grows, demand for small and compact firearms will grow along, then add to that the CZ quality and reliability and all the pluses it hashmmm it could be
-
Nope, Nope, Never, and Maybe??
official word on the Compacts in .40?
Look for the CZ40B COMPACT.
I guess that is were they are putting their R&D funds.
so lets stick behind them and push that compact, hey!

On the .40 S&W Compact issue, I had this response to a post over on Shooters.com:
nvrquit, The CZ75BD Compact carry is a factory melt down in .40S&W. Available Jan 2002. List price is $499 but that is MSRP and it should come in at around $439. The specs are as follows:
Steel frame and slide.
L is 7.3"
Barrel L is 3.9"
H is 5.0"
W (panel to panel) is 1.4"
Dry weight is 2.0lbs.
Trigger is traditional SA/DA with de-cocker.
Capacity is 10 rnds.
I will let you know when they hit the shelves.

As you can see, some people out there seem to have been given the impression that a compact .40 S&W is coming down the road. I asked Bohica where his info came from and this was the reply:
Nvvrquit, I own a very small gunshop in Western Ky. My info comes from the CZ rep for my area. I must warn you however that CZ had a huge snafu on the last "new" gun they introduced, the CZ110. Only about 70 made it stateside before they pulled the un-sold remainder back after deciding not to produce them for the American market. So what i'm saying is don't bet the farm on this horse. Thats why I was reluctant to go into detail. I'll keep you informed.
Bohica
Now, I'm not saying anything anyone has posted here is bull or wrong. It's just that like PC software, not everything that is promised/rumored allways comes to pass...
I just hope we get at least one of these things as a compact something!
Of course, it would be nice if Santa brought all the nice toys... compact CZ75BD, compact CZ40B, compact CZ97(in .45 ACP & 10mm!)... ahhh, to dream...
-
CZ 110's in the US and pulled back to czub land when cz decided not to manufacture for the US ? We were told a long time ago they couldn't pass ATF muster and would never be here.
I gotta tell ya, I don't believe czub is interested in this market for anything other than unloading overuns, cancelled contracts and what they can't sell in Europe...
-
czhead,
I can't vouch for the veracity of the response, I'm only posting what was posted.
As I posted, I only hope that one of the pistols shows as a compact. It doesn't matter to me which one, just as long as one of them shows up here on these shores!
-
(Ooops). I sometimes wish we had a DELETE function.)
-
I suspect that CZ *IS* interested in the US market for things other than overruns, but it takes a while for a relatively new organization (CZ-USA) to gear up for this market. Just getting an established dealer network is no little undertaking.
(There is a MUCH bigger gun market in the US than in practically all the countries in Europe - combined... And recent increases in purchasing has shown that the market is NOT saturated.)
The fact that the 75B Military overrun sold out relatively quickly was probably a GOOD THING. It showed CZ that there is a market, here...
-
Don't think for a minute that I don't love my CZ weapons and CZ service in K.C. I think those folks in K.C. have gone the extra mile for us time and time again. I am just stating the obvious. It is my belief that CZUB has more interest in selling Govt Contracts in Europe. And if that is where the money is then that's the way it has to be. I can see where mass production and one delivery point is great for them in order to make the most profit. However, I just think that they are missing the boat for US sales. Only one model in polymer while Crock, S&W, Tanfoglio and others have 6 or 7. Maybe there is just too much competition and they just don't have the facilities to be competitive in all arenas...I will be happy with what I have but there are models I want and I am going to have to go to other manufacturers to get them. I am not going to buy a certain model of CZ just because it's the only thing they want to bring in the US.
-
You may be correct in thinking that CZ in europe would like to sell to governments there, but it just hasn't been happening -- and isn't likely to happen, either.
FN, SIG, and GLOCK pretty much have the market sewed up. It would be VERY difficult to compete with those guns (if for no other reason than they have the big buck to offer sweetheart deals on trade-ins, etc.)
Somewhere on the net there's a list of the various police departments (state and federal) and military units that use various guns. CZ is poorly represented, with hardly any military use noted -- even in the Czech Republic.
The US is a big market; arguably bigger in terms of REAL (as opposed to theoretical) potential, for CZ, in what CAN be sold, than most of Europe.
Now that CZ has begun to establish its reputation, look for some gradual price increases. (Its a sad fact of life, in the sale of "premium products," that a high price can often lead to greater customer satisfaction. The opposite argument, "if its cheap, it must not be as good...", also applies. CZ *will* eventually raise their prices a bit. From a business perspective, they'd be dumb not to...
(That's probably the reasoning behind a possible CZ-40B price increase.)

"I still miss my "EX" but my aim is improving since I bought a CZ"

LOL a guy told me today( yahoo chat) that CZ seems to go broke every
few years.
Some of you think that CZ-USA is a new company. I can see why people would
think so, but CZ-USA is well established and CZUB even more so.
CZs are still on of the few steel framed guns that people buy for defense.
and they Should make a Polymer gun..75 style. and a .357 SIG and a 10mm.
Also a CZ550 in .270 or .300 WSM, as short magnums are the 'in' thing .
But they look at the market for such on a World basis i guess.

The CZ110 was withdrawn from the American market due to liabily concerns,
nothing more.
Thoughts of lawsuits from stupid idiots with no sense of firearms safety and greedy lawyers made the
gun unavailable here...not some greater plan at CZ-USA to keep us from
the 110.
I'm assured that we are not missing much..no great advantage in trigger pulls,
travel.ect.
CZs are official issue in like 44 countries. i'm trying to get the list
-
Official issue in 44 countries? Boy, would I like to know who - that might get GlockBoy to quiet down. Oh, now three people at work guve me grief about CZ, probably because the boss won't order more. Oh, well, I still get to shoot free every day...

Maybe there is too much liability shipping full size 40 caliber mags that can easily be tweeked by anybody to fit 12 or 13 9mm luger cartridges. mapdude
