This appears to be a dust cover, not just a mount, does anyone know what it is or where I can get one?!?!

That doesn't appear to be the Zahal/Fab Defense cover, so I am assuming it is the one made by Gunexpert over in the Czech Republic.
-
I'm actually thinking of just ordering a dust cover and welding or bolting a picatinny rail to it ???

Sounds like a great idea! I'm thinking of tig welding a rail to a dust cover. Maybe ad some re-enforcing steel plate. Looks like the one in the pic is heavier.

Im certainly curious as well. Im also curious about that 40 round mag.

That would be a very bad idea, our dust covers are so flexible and light and they dont actually lock to the receiver. The one that you pictured, which has been discussed on here quite a bit, is a solid piece of metal that actually goes down the side of the receiver and clamps on with big bolts. Other wise every time youd fire the zero would bump around. Also the original cover is just lightly welded onto the bar that holds the 2 springs so it wouldnt take much torque to break that weld when you have a sight mounted on it.

That makes a lot of sense....

Century Arms carries them. Its a VZ-58 Magnetic Scope Mount. Cost is $69.87.

Why can't I find any info on it!?!? I did find it on Century Arms though...

Not sure, if this one is magnetic or not, but here are some railed covers:

The Czech aluminum cover is well made and appears to have a quick release clamp on it. It's also $400.
-
$400 is way too much money for a dust cover, someone needs to make a more affordable one. I think I'll likely bite the bullet and pick up that one from Zahal.
-
The one from Zahal will not allow you to remove it quickly in a jam situation. The Czech made one (Pictured at the beginning of this thread) will. For another 100 bucks I would go with the one that will allow me to break it down quickly if I need to. That all being said, they're both too bleep much money.
