Got a chance to try out my 97b SA conversion today.
I can say my accuracy with the trigger installed is much better than with the factory DA/SA version. Haven't bought a CGW hammer yet but I'm pretty happy with the results so far. I'm really enjoying the SP01 extended mag release too.
Buddy I was shooting with couldn't understand it wasn't a 1911. "CZ what?". He was highly impressed with it.
Next up is probably sight replacement, perhaps something adjustable. Even so I had no trouble hitting a 4" round steel at 35 yards. I may even use it for our next match!
Thanks to CGW for the parts and help.

Do you have a pic of it completed?

Sorry about that, here's a pic.

Beautiful grips, where did they come from?
-
Those are Nill Griffe target grips, cut down to be flush with the frame. Kinda sacrilegious to mangle $120 precision target grips but I am a huge fan of the 'cokebottle' shape and they were the onlyones I could find for the 97b. Fortunately I found them on numrich for $45.

beautiful!
throw a set of those hex grip screws available in the marketplace too.
what kind of trigger is that?
-
Chris B , I have the same set of grips on my 97b. I have been contemplating modifying mine similar to yours. My biggest gripe is the mag fitment. Yours look great. Doesn't appear much needs to be removed to make it flush. At the prices numrich had them for I don't think you did wrong. Anytime Nills can be found less than $100 is a steal.

Ditto! I have a set of Nills on my 97B SA and I just got three 45 mags from EAA ($85 shipped, ordered 45 days ago...) and the bases are just a touch too wide for these grips. Since I picked up an extra pair on Numrich at the $55 price I have been considering cutting down a set. Or, I may be able to just thin the sided of the Witness 45 mag bases.
The CGW hammer, sear, extended firing pin and reduced power Hammer, Firing pin and trigger springs all make a GREAT package.

It takes guts to trim down these beautifully made grips, let me tell you. Everything is so precisely milled.

Beautiful grips! Are they slim or thick wood?

The Single Action (SA) trigger. :)

Beautiful gun and great job on the grips!

Chris how did you refinish the cut edges? How did it come out? I'm getting ready to cut into a set.
Thanks
