i see makarov has either the extractor or ejector dont rember which but it says "works with either 762 or 9mm". my question is does this part need to be changed and if so what else besides the bbl. needs to be changed to operate the cz as a 9mm?

I use to own a converted CZ 52. After some tinkering with the feed lips of the magazine I got it to feed 9mm
reliably. I have to bend the feed lips towards the feed ramp end of the magazine. I bent them in just a very little bit so they would hold onto the shorter 9mm round
long enough get started into the chamber. Otherwise
the round would sometimes flip vertical in the breach instead of going into the chamber.
Once you bend the feed lips the follower will not go all the way to the top of the magazine and engage the hold
open latch. One could modify the follower a little .
I really like the was the gun shot when comverted to 9mm, but I did not like the problems I was having.
They are minor if one is just going to use the gun for plinking. They are major if one is going to carry it.

I just changed the barrel. All three of my mag have always feed correctly and I haven't had a single jam in the 500 or so rounds I've fired since . . . Maybe I'm just lucky.

I changed the barrel only. Mine feeds FMJ great doesn't like hollow points.

I guess I've never tried HP's . . . I was always told that the CZ52 was never designed to feed them correctly (in any caliber).

I have a CZ52 that I bought the modified extractor for
The mod is a dished out area on the lower front of the claw, and is clearenced checked with the fireing pin channel. As I understand it the part is heat treated to be stronger also.
It feeds both calibers with out any problems
you have to be very cautious about switching around barrels and calibers.
a 9mm cartrige will feed and seem to fit perfectly in a .30 caliber barrel.
DONT DO THIS.
if you fired a 9mmbullet in an original .30 cal barel
......it would be bad........

that could hurt

For what it's worth, my 52 feeds the Speer .308 110 hollow point (the one with lots of exposed lead ) without any problem.....no failures to feed.
I polished the feed ramp just cuzz and it has worked great.
thought you might like to know.
Saw one other post saying esentially the same thing.
