Title: How can one tell an original Colt Z40 from a CZ40B
Post by: onebohemian on February 17, 2007, 06:44:10 PM
My reading indicates the initial Colt Z40 were somehow different than the CZ40Bs that came after Colt sold the show to CZ.  How can a person tell the difference between a Colt model and a later CZ model?  Is there a serial number sequence that would indicate this?  Anything?

Thanks,

Mark

The Colt Z40 will be marked as such.  Also the Z40 was DAO.

Note:  There was at least one DA/SA Colt Z-40s made, too.  A participant posted pictures of his, on the forum, last year.  (Only one I've heard of...)

I saw a Z40 at a gunshow last year. Although I didn't touch it, it was clearly marked as a Colt. Aside from the markings though, it looked just like my CZ-40. I can't remember the price, but it was very high. More than double the cost of a NIB CZ-40B.
