Purchased a CZ 40B yesterday, out the door, for $305.00. First impressions were good. Nice design, slim enough for CCW, great grip feel, etc...everything I gathered from this forum proved true...
As always, I work new handguns by dry-firing them several thousand times before heading to the range. Gives me a feel for the weapon and allows the trigger to get in shape before a range test...
So, I cleaned and lubed the 40B, popped in one of the supplied snap-caps and watched a baseball game on the TV while dry firing...
At about 1500 pulls of the trigger...zing, the firing pin flies out of the slide and stops on the hammer. I checked out the slide and noticed that the top roll pin had moved out of its slot and is either just loose or is broken...hmmm, I now question the quality of the CZ's and really wonder if this is the quality of handgun I want as a concealed carry piece...
It's going back to the shop today for shipment to CZ-USA...in a nutshell, compared to my Rugers and Sigs, the CZ just doesn't stack up. I guess you do 'get what you paid for'...

The newer CZs now have a double roll pin.
The roll pin could have been replaced with a $.15 pin (cut with a Dremel) from a nearby hardware store.
I'm not crazy about the roll pin as firing pin retention device; I like the firing pin [stop] approach.
But Rugers have problems, too. I had an extractor break off after about 1000 rounds with a P-95...
(Had the same thing happen with a Ruger Target Competition, and then when I sent the BOLT [which has the extractor] only to them, they claimed they' hadn't received it... until I told them the name of the person who signed for it [thank you UPS]. They sent me a new bolt.)

It is possible for a bad part to slip out of any manufacturing center. Considering my own personal track record with CZ, and the record I have had with other firearm manufacturers, I would say that CZ is head and shoulders above other ones like Smith and Wesson (I have had 1 lemon and 2 others that needed help), Taurus (returning my 3rd taurus this weekend!), Kimber (I have 3 friends that have had bad ones), and a score of other problems I ain't gonna list here.
But never had ONE problem with a CZ firearm... and I own 7 of them.
