Hey all, I've got three of these baby's, and want each accessorized like individuals with their own personalities...after all, firearms are not all created equal. Been having a tough time finding what each needs, and have spent days scouring the globe...via computer, but exhausting nonetheless.
Came across this list from someone who I will NOT credit because they said "the vz is basically a Polish design of an AK" most of which I've been to, and some more...

Obviously some of these places won't work for US folks. And vice versa for our Canadian brothers.

I thought highly of IWD work as well. But I didn't get anything from them when a well respected founding mod of VEPR.org WENT OFFF!!!! on Iron Wood and how, I will put it delicately, how "disappointed" he has found many other people to be with the end result. I was Shocked at his vehemence.
I am glad that you have found their work to be top quality. If you don't mind my inquiry, what style and finish did you get from them? Any pics?
I have found that the Canadian accessory stores are only prohibited from selling guns & ammo (and perhaps bbl's & receivers, I do not know), everything else I've gotten there has been actually much cheaper. The same is true of many UK & E. European Co.s. We (in the U.S.) do not have to pay the Value Added Tax, which is not insignificant. However, I have pulled out of deals because they will want to stay with a bank transfer only, and I am reluctant to do any large overseas purchase without the protection of a credit card. I lost a Dragunov because of that three months ago. That's just my personal preference, however.

Good Sticky Brian. thanks for putting it together. ;)

The Troy vz-58 railed barrel clamp is back in stock at Optics Planet (of all places)
I've ordered one ,it's been shipped and is on the way, I've waited a month and a half but it's finally on the way
http://www.opticsplanet.com/troy-vz-58-barrel-clamp.html
I don't understand how/where they got it since I called Troy before the order and was told they will positively NOT be making any more period.
FYI!
-
If you have a VZ2008 variant from CAI and don't like the slant cut muzzle device you can't replace it with the more common AK47 type flash suppressor/muzzle brakes because the thread pattern is 14x1 Right Hand. However Tactical Deals in Eatontown, NJ(www.ultimatearmsgear.com) has three different models available. The PKM Short Compact Brake Device sells for $24.95 and is definitely 14x1 RH in black oxide steel. They ship fast via USPS.

Thanks for this, found some things I didn't know existed.
-
Hey guys, was just looking around and found these original vz58 barrels...
https://www.apexgunparts.com/product_info.php/cPath/63/products_id/1135
$50 for one, chrome lined, and with excellent bores... any idea why they are cheaper than the US barrels?
-
At 15.5" they require a permanently attached muzzle device or muzzle extension to avoid ATF's SBR laws/stamp.
-
That as well as 922 compliance. I haven't built a VZ or honestly know the specific parts that make various VZs compliant, but with foreign beaver barf, mags, etc.. one may need a US barrel to make a particular build compliant, thus making foreign barrels less desirable.

Model #02-VZ58
Upper handguard rail mounts
Very substantial, solid upper handguard pic rail, much heavier alternative to the Bonesteel variety, and in stock.
Does sit at the same level as rear receiver deck, but super solid mounting that will hold zero with optics, plus the ability to add optional side rail sections.

I also broke my lower hand guard tension pin removing it.
For some reason it broke into two pieces when I removed it to install my nea lower hand guard.
I looked around and went to lowes low and behold found a replacement for it that fits into the hole.
The pin is 5/32 x 1 1/4 long pn#0823671804
Made by Hilman.

The best part .89 cents for two of them.

Ohio ordinance works sells the OE steel pin that's not a roll pin. A much superior product IMO.
Also, be sure to get roll pin punches, not just general punches so that you don't destroy the hard to remove roll pins on your firearms...

I stumbled on this site a few months ago. Some interesting designs. I was trying to hold out for the folding stock for my SBR build, but apparently it is still "under development" and all we get so far is the sketch.

I have a kwik rail on a custom SKS and it is a solid product. Has not yet caused a jam, or FTE or an ejected caseing falling back into the action.
BUT the rail replaces your iron sights. complicates takedown, it's awkward when hinged forward.

Since I've been asked about this specific brake a few times:
Allen Gun Works in Canada has a Linear Compensator and I believe they will ship to the US.
Main pros: Directs all muzzle blast forward and increases back pressure on the action (good for SBRs or subsonic)
If you don't need all blast to go forward, then you will be better served with comps that can port gas in all directions... Essentially, linear comps spread the recoil over a longer period of time so you get the same amount of recoil but it becomes more of a shove than a punch.
http://www.allengunworks.com/products.html
*In the video below and other Canadian videos, bear in mind that most canadian barrels are much longer than here in the US, which magnifies vertical forces of the brakes due to the longer leverage -- has led to some folks misinterpreting the forces applied by brakes like Bulldog on US (~16.25") and Czech spec (~15.4") in previous Canadian videos w/ long barrel length VZ58s...

"VZ-58 USA" now shows, In Stock (gray color), a small accessory kit:
-the long, thick stock screw plus two other smaller screws.
-butt plate.
-ferule.
-the metal guide for the cross pin in the lower handguard.
$90 approx. price.
* ???Wish I spotted this before I spent six hours trying to adapt the commercial "sporter" screw to the new Beaver Barf set; this had zero metal components with it, and the stock screw from the "Sporter" is over 1" too short for the Beaver butt stock.
The Woodworking Shop precisely sliced off the forward 1" from the stock, in order for the Sporter screw ( with 2 or 3? thin, luckily very narrow washers: Loews's) to go into the receiver's screw hole (Nobody else I found seemed to advertise an original screw). Careful measuring worked out well. What a pain..............
