Hi all. Just thinking out loud but I would like your input on upgrading my 85C for IDPA and ISPSA competitions. I read some forums about CGW, Ghost (which I believe is CZ custom shop), and found Matthew Mink site.
What is the thought around custom work for competitions? the above companies? and what brings the best bang for the buck?
I would not do the work myself. 1 company specializing in CZ work has a package:
Race trigger job w/CZ Custom competition hammer, 13# mainspring (or 15#, 16#), hammer work, sear work, internal polishing, shortened reset and all other internal work on nonB series guns (85 Combat, SP-01 Shadow, etc...)
I will have a hard earned bonus check from work at the end of the month the wife doesn't know about lol, and I cannot think of anything that would be more practical, at least for now. Thanks for your feedback in advance. Mike

I've had Matt Minks race trigger job on 3 of my CZs and you won't find anything better.

What is the shipping for Matt mink's work?
I'm looking at Cajun gun works by Dave, hes a very nice guy and very knowledgable.

Thanks velo. Good to know you are a very satisfied customer. Matt's reply to my email was quick and informative.
Yer, have you used CGW previously? I see alot of guys on the CZ forum have done so. I sent Dave an email also about specific upgrades regarding the defensive carry package: I don't carry and hopefully will not need to use defensively.
I will post as I get more info. Thanks, Mike

Full upgrades on CZs for competition seem to be an action job with the comp hammer, new sights ( comp or tactical rear and FO front ), new grips, new springs, guide rod and maybe changing out the trigger.
Ask around, seek recommendations and ask questions just as you would with any custom build. We offer a couple of packages that offer some savings as its done as a package deal with some of the most asked for customizations.
Angus and Matt are two top tier shooters and the mods in their guns are specific to CZs and competition in USPSA, IPSC, IDPA and Steel.
All the shops mentioned, CZC, AA and CGW all are mentioned because they all have built good reputations for work, service and followup.
Tough choice these days. there was a day when there was no choice.

I haven't used CGW before, but Dave is very polite and professional so he has my business for when I do get mine. I'll break it in with at least 2k rounds before deciding to do any work, but if I do decide I will go with CGW. He replaces a ton of the inside parts with better parts for competition.

Yer. What CZs do you have?

None yet, hopefully getting one a day or two before Thanksgiving (recieving, it will be purchased beforehand but won't be available for pickup till around then)
It will be an SP-01 tactical, don't worry everyone will know when it arrives XD
In the meantime I'm learning everything I can on them.

I've never sent a gun off for custom work, but I've done the work myself. I've done full action jobs on two CZ's.
I did a SAO conversion on a 75B .40 for use in USPSA. I used all CZCustom parts. The trigger is phenominal.
I did a full action upgrade on my RAMI. I used all Cagun Gun Works parts. The trigger is phenominal.
I've never used Mink, but alot of competition shooters swear by his work.
I honestly think you will be happy with trigger work from any of the mentioned vendors. Let us know who you decide to go with and how you like the work after it's completed!

Oh you'll know if I ever do anything to mine, with pictures!

I don't think you would be disappointed with any of these options. At the end of the day, they all are reputable places and do great work.

I agree with all of the above. If it were me and I had someone else do it I would take it to CZCustom or send it to CGW.... I really dont think you could make a wrong choice. As for my guns so far CGW has supplied all my parts and future parts for now. One of these days I will take a trip to CZcustom and probably pick up a few things (they are only 100 miles south of me).

Come on down. Play with some of the cool toys we got.

Yea, you can never go wrong in sending your pistol for custom mods with this 3 mentioned company. They are expert with CZ. My suggestionif I may is to talked to them and used the services of the one you are most comfortable to work with.
