Title: Mag spring?
Post by: nicky on October 05, 2013, 10:50:58 AM
A few times I had failure to feed issue with my 97B. Last week at the range I was shooting my FNX45 with my weak hand & had a failure to feed. I smacked the bottom of the mag & it chambered. I contributed it to limp wrist. When it happened with my97B with a firm 2 hand hold I did the same thing & smacked the bottom of the mag & it chambered. Would I be correct in thinking that the mag spring in the 97B needs replacing? I appreciate your input. By the way I was shooting new 230gr.factory

They might be a little on the weak side (Wolff gunsprings makes great springs for these and it uses standard 75 springs for the mags). Some of the older models of 97 had feeding problems related to mags and feedramps and the company updated them and will fix it if you send the gun back to them. Lots of issues with CZ's come from having crap build up under the extractor claw, this would also cause sluggish feeding issues.

my first guess was the mag springs. I will check around the extractor claw.

I cleaned the extractor claw & I'm having the same problem with the 1st 2 or 3 bullets with 10 in the mag when I pulled the slide by hand. The nose is not pointing up to be able to slide up the ramp. I guess it's time for new springs. I'm glad I cleaned the extractor claw. What gunk.
