Well I now have Christmas turkey in the freezer thanks to my 912. Was about a 35 yd shot with a 6 shot 3 inch magnum. Can't wait to brine and fry this bird!

yes. MY 2 An 4 Yr Olds Got To Watch Me Clean And Pluck It. They Missed Me gutting It Though. They Did See The Bird Go Into The FreezeR.

congratulations on shooting your first bird! I have been spring turkey hunting in wisconsin since 1995 and have bagged several birds. the shotgun load that has worked very well over the years is the Winchester supreme 12 ga. 3 " with 2oz. of #6 shot. the longest bird has been 54 yds shot off an open dirt road with a 26" barrel 870 Remington special purpose with an extra full remington choke. I beleave it's the tightest choke Remington makes. we no longer gut the bird or pluck the feathers. we slit the skin to expose the breast and then fillet both sides off the bone and throw the rest away, guts and all! here's a very good recipe for wild turkey. I submitted this a while ago and it is from my word documents recipe's on file.
