Title: Another spare parts story
Post by: fijiken on October 09, 2013, 05:05:45 PM
I got my Shark compact back from the smith.  He installed the cgw spring kit.  Everything was going fine till after the last mag, the flatspring fell out of the mag well.  Somehow it had come loose.  So I go home to put it back.  It's so brittle that the little flange on the bottom broke off.  I bought it from Buds, so I called Buds to get a new part.  They wanted me to send the whole gun there for a warranty claim.  They said I couldn't just buy a spare part.  Thank god for Century Arms.  I called them to see if they'd sell me one.  They guy said that normally they only sell parts for guns that came from them but since he had several he'd sell me one.  Nice guy!  Part arrived a couple of days later.  Surprised that the little piece of stamped metal was $20.  Now I gotta take it back to my smith to have him put it on.  The piece looked a little crappy.  One side was wider than the other. Hope that doesn't make a difference.   Would a CZ compact part have worked?

Happy Shooting!

Does that flat spring do anything other than holding the mag in place ???

It was keeping my mag from dropping freely, so I just removed it......Seems to shoot fine without it ....   mike

+1, but it will work without it. But your mag can hang up when changing mags. I removed mine on a clone  because the mag would not drop very well. I ended up buying the CZ85 flat brake and it drops free just fine.
