Title: CZ Tactical Sport .40 to CTS
Post by: 02doooce on October 21, 2013, 12:33:27 PM
Hey All,

I just picked up the Tactical Sport in .40 and I'm thinking about sending it in to have it transformed into the CTS (love the look).

I shoot my SP01 Shadow Target for USPSA production and the TS/CTS is my intended Limited division gun.

Yes, the TS is a very capable gun right out of the box, I want it to look bada$$, be more reliable and accurate than anything else out there. I'm trying to prove a point in that the S_I 2011 is not the end all be all choice for Limited. Don't get me wrong, I love my 1911 and I also own an STI Edge I'm just tired of hearing about how there is no better choice than an S_I 2011 for Limited.

Anyone else taken their TS and done the CTS mods? Any advice or "must do" upgrades?
Reliability is key for me, given how reliable and accurate my SP01 Shadow, I've set a very high bar for my Limited TS/CTS.

Thanks in advance for your input.

I fell for that look too. And, it is very bleep accurate if done right. I only did it in 9mm. 40 should be no less accurate.

Hiya 02doooce and thanks for starting the thread. I'm sure the experts will also chime in for ya, and know you can also pm them at their respective shops of czc and CGW to ask. I understood the CTS to be a TS upper coupled to a shadow lower, and unless the maker had spare lowers or you provided said lower, you'd have to buy the lower ya wanted to use, and hopefully not a whole shadow just for the frame. I really didnt think that the CTS the czc shop made with the compact po1 frame was a possibility; until they made it. But wonder now with your caliber of 40 would that be a po6 frame, or a shadow in 40cal? Since my head is starting to hurt thinking about it, I'll stop and say, cant wait to see if your thread gets the imput I'd like ta see it have.Be well.

My understanding of the CZ Custom CTS is thats its a CZ Custom Shop creation.

They start with whats essentially a TS and the cut the frame shorter + grind away the front and rear checkering.
Add some skinny aluminum grips, FO front sight and adjustable rear sights, box type magwell, then it goes to be refinished (slide and frame). The internal upgrades include a stronger guide rod, flat trigger, race hammer, change of springs, etc

I believe the beauty of this as a limited gun is that these seem to be fairly simple mods and you essentially haven't compromised reliability and accuracy of the gun. Added bonus is that with the CZ Custom Shop base pads you go from 17 to 20 reliably.

02doooce, if I'm not mistaken, you are correct.  And so is Adrian.   ;)

The gun Adrian is describing is the reasonably new CZ75 Shadow CTS LS-P, which is basically a $1450-SRP longslide Shadow.  The Custom Shop CTS is the $2400 cut-frame, fully worked-over porn star Tactical Sport you described.  Not the same gun.
