Here is an assortment of P-09 hammers. I would like forum members to indicate their preference. Each is clearly named. So take your time and let me know.

Ring.

That CGW Race version is great, I would put the wedge in second.
Does the aftermarket hammer improve the trigger, or just aesthetics???

I would like something super close to OEM, to run in SSP.
But I like the wedge.
-
Judging them aesthetically only, I like wedge followed by race.
-
Race first, ring second choice. Both are good.

WEDGE
-
#1 Wedge
#2 Race

A hammer carved in the shape of Bucky Badger and painted appropriately would sell like hotcakes:

I like ring and wedge.
-
Wedge 1st
Ring 2nd
-
I like Wedge and then Ring
It might be easier to choose to see how they look when installed - if we're picking aesthetically

# 1 Wedge
# 2 Ring
# 3 Race

1. Wedge

That ring is awesome.
-
I like the Wedge (looks) or Ring thinking about decocking with thumb and forefinger ---grip surface available.
-
#1 Race. #2 Wedge
-
Wowzers!!!! I would just need 4 P-09s O0 O0 O0.
What are the chance on the Wedge being a Tac Sport hammer????
That would be SWEET!!! Talk about a sexy addition to an already sexy Limited Masterpiece
-
Package them as a 5-Hammer Performance Pak.
-
I like OEM because I like my mods to be somewhat stealthy. Followed by Ring maybe.
-
I like the Race followed by the Ring.
P.S. Losey likes the same two in reverse order.
-
I like the wedge. The ring reminds me of an 1911 hammer.
-
I like the wedge!

That's a persuasive argument for OEM. Also, the Ring shape is classic CZ. I'm not familiar with the feel of the ring hammer on the thumb - is it more ergonomic?
-
Wedge is right sexy.

It's all debatable. The ring seems to me to be somewhat comparable to a commander style hammer which many will find familiar and is a fairly well accepted design. The concave style of the spur and the wedge may just bee a little too aggressive and unfamiliar for me. In the end, I am happy with the look and feel of the OEM so I figure why change it? I am a simple monkey.
-
Id prefer OEM with re cut hooks for SSP/Production and THEN the ring. The ring should allow easy manual decocking.
-
1) Ring
2) Wedge
-
All I REALLY care about is the hammer/sear interface. Maybe CGW can safely eliminate some of the creep. I'm afraid to touch the stock parts.

I shoot IDPA and would like to stay in SSP when I find a p-09 for sale. Which would mean a custom hammer is fine as long as it is externally the same. Stuart and a couple others had the same thought and my main follows those lines. Otherwise the designs are all great but they would also put you in ESP. Same thing with the CZ 75 race hammers. I've messed with a few and the break is crisper than the comp hammers but a no go for SSP IDPA. Any thoughts? Or, David will you be able to mod the factory hammers to recreate the custom feel?
-
I am pretty confident the hammer we develop may become a "production" part. Can't elaborate any further at this point. Therefore keeping the OEM profile should not be a major consideration.

That is AWESOME!!!! Hope it turns out well, whatever the future holds. Thanks, BTW, for including the new firing pin with the rear sight. You exceed the highest expectactions.

If that's the case, put my vote in for the ring.

2) Race
Looking good !
Looks like I may buy another poly frame pistol after all.....

Ring

1 Wedge
2 Ring
Can't wait for more great parts from CGW.

I vote to change the name of the wedge.
New name: Spike of Fury

+1... This ^^^

Or "Thorn of Doom"....Wedge just doesn't do it justice. I have been eyeballing a Tac Sport at the LGS for the past year, and when I get it, I want the "Spike of Fury" hammer. What say ye, David...can you make this happen?
-
Or "Thorn of Doom"... I want the "Spike of Fury" hammer.
Are we still talking USPSA? Or did we move on to Dungeons and Dragons?

bleep.....I almost wet my pants with that one.:D

You're welcome. ;D
-
Any idea how much longer we will have to wait to get our hands on these hammers?
-
The race and ring are nice but please do an OEM option for production shooters.
-
Wedge and OEM. I guess now I have to buy a P09.

I keep checking everyday for Damascus to have them back in stock...

Or the P07, I believe...don't they use the same internals?

Wedge

Denizen,
Concerning your post #44, I think your question is valid. There is more to making this work than just the hammer. To turn the 07/09 series into a top performer, the disconnector and lifter must also be engineered to work in concert with the revised hammer. This means basically half of the lock work will be re-engineered.
Not easy, and I want to get this right the first time. But we are very, very close.

Denizen,

Great, now I have to buy a P07 AND a P09. I thought I was through after the Shadows, IPSC Standard, and the "Cajun 97BE.
I'm going to have to get a second job...
-
I like the wedge best. It's different and stands out. It looks like it would work well for manually cocking it also.
-
1- wedge
2- ring
-
Race.
Wedge.
In that order. ;)
-
Wedge.
-
the ring that fit my p-01 is awesome! sit's low enough even with a tactical rear sight overhanging the slide to easily thumb the hammer back. something I could not do with the stock hammer. my vote is the ring, then race, then wedge.
-
Wedge.
It's "Spike of Fury"....geez....you old guys have memory issues :D:P
-
OKAY, OKAY, to satisfy all, name it the................"THOR" Hammer:
-
If only "Mj?lnir" was easy to pronounce
-
Wedge.
It's "Spike of Fury"....geez....you old guys have memory issues :D:P
Hey! I'm 33.
If only "Mj?lnir" was easy to pronounce
Myol...mjol..."Spike of Fury" it is!
-
My vote is on:
1). Race
2). Wedge
I think CZs just look more awesome with square hammers. Schmeky, you're going to make me want to get a P07 or P09!
-
To supplement this thread and tally up the results for Schmeky, will you guys also go to this thread and cast your votes?

Pics of the prototypes on a gun?
1. Ring
2. OEM
3. Race

The P09 is the wife's so her preference is Spur followed by the wedge. If it were mine I'd be voting for the wedge, followed by the race.
-
1. OEM
2. Race
3. Wedge
-
Ring and OEM.
-
Race and second I like wedge.
-
Here's my vote:
#1 Wedge
#2 OEM
-
Ring #1 choice. Race #2 choice
-
Wedge and OEM. I guess now I have to buy a P09.
I keep checking everyday for Damascus to have them back in stock...
Not sure if you saw, but Stuart got a couple in on Monday. I went ahead and ordered my second one from him since it'll be harder to bring into California after January first. The first one i ordered was for te wife. So now I can have a say in this poll as well! I pick wedge then race!
-
#1 OEM
#2 Wedge
#3 Ring
-
Like Stuart said OEM for SSP !

I'm hoping this means David is in cohoots with CZ-USA, lining these new hammers up as factory options. That would be 8) 8) 8)
-
Make it a classy shape like the Ring or race. Its ergonomics make it easier to decock
-
Are any besides OEM production legal?

I like the race and the wedge. Ring is nice too but I would love to see them installed while I am being super demanding. 8) great job. Are they available for purchase yet?
-
Really like that ring and the wedge looks great to
-
The hammer Schmeky has up on his website (that I'm chomping at the bit to buy !) looks just like stock - don't ask, don't tell. O0
