This post is directed mostly to armoredman because I know you reload for the vz 58. My lacquered ammo has always fed with no problem. Just tried a box of Wolf WPA Military Classic (which I have a 1000 rounds of) and almost every round would jam halfway into the chamber. A while back I had tried some brass case ammo with the same results. Did you polish the feed ramp in order to get the softer case ammo to feed properly? Looking for a fix....

Weird?? My vz feeds the Czech laquired cases flawlessly but non lacquered stuff I'll get the occasional fail to feed when releasing the bolt on a fresh mag, round only goes about 1/2 in chamber. Runs fine when firing, just when I start a fresh mag does it happen. Maybe my feed ramps need some polishing???

Matty....exactly...cleaning rifle now and will polish feed ramp...I think that should be the fix on this...

This issue you're having is not normal.

Feed ramp? not so much.
-
more than likely it is not the feed ramp that needs polishing, but rather the rear underside of the locking lugs, check the cases for a long scratch, it is common for the lugs to scratch cases, and with soft cases they can sometimes bite in and cause a jam.
-
ObiWan you are correct....the long scratches on the case is the give away. The rounds on the left would catch on the sharp underside of the front left locking lug causing the round to fail to feed. Some polishing there should be the fix.
Thank you!!!

I see I wasn't needed after all. :) If it keeps up, try to get a gunsmith to look at it. Also, does it happen with every magazine or just one - one might be sitting too high or low.
