Title: I'm bored!
Post by: Cali Crash on January 09, 2014, 02:18:27 PM
At work, been a slow month. Already spent up all my cash on firearm goods. Just stuck waiting at this point. Have a P09 in the mail. Waiting for Schmeky to order my P09 upgrades for the one we already have. Waiting on grips from Hakan, Sam, and Marschal. And stuck waiting for a date night cause I promised the wife I wouldn't go to the range without her. Starting to do homework on the first long gun purchase. Have that just about narrowed down. Need to start shopping for a full sized safe but have to wait until we pick and buy a house to do that. Just sucks that everything's so slow, all my moneys spent, and there's nothing to do. For me at least. End of the month things will pick up, but been on here a lot lately and just seems post have slowed down a bit. Or at least on topics I can chime in on. I just hate it when it's slow, feels like time drags by crazy slow.

Could be worse - could be in Afghanistan. :) Boredom in the gun world is cured by cleaning guns, loading ammo, prepping brass, etc. If you don't reload, now is the time to get into it - something to do on long, boring nights when even NetFlix anime doesn't cut the mustard.

Anime. Oh my. My 16 year old daughter watches that for hours every Sunday with her girlfriends. Poke my eyes out!

Know what you mean.  Trust me, that changes.

I loaded about three hundred 9mm cartridges today after a visit to a VA optometrist.  I tried to explain why I wanted my bifocals to let me see my fingertips clearly with my arms fully extended.  ;D

Enjoy that boredom! I miss it so much.............................
A good friend once told me if you are bored you just are not doing something right. Lemons to lemonade .

Bored at work, been slow. I maintain a highrise building in downtown San Francisco. Do a good job at what I do, the downside since I've been at this site for two years I now have a lot fixed and working smoothly that I have less of a work load (at thee my at least). They're not spending money to let me fix other stuff I want to so just dragging my feet doing what is available. At home I got the three yer old daughter to keep me occupied. Not reloading yet and won't even consider trying until we buy out new house. Don't need to put any new stuff in here that I'll just have to move in a couple months. Keep setting up plans for date nights for me and te wife to hit the range that have fallen through. So shipping the first P09 slide of for a sight install as soon as Schmeky gets em. He'll probably have them before I have the cash. Only big thing I'm looking forward gun wise right not is getting into long guns. Never even really looked at them until now. So many options, it'll take me a while to figure out what I'll be looking for.

The ex was into anime, even the more adult oriented stuff still didn't peak my interest. But I'm sure it'll still be better then watching Mickey Mouse, fairies, princesses and my little pony

Been a long time since I had to watch that stuff! The content makes you crazy but the time spent with the kids is priceless. You'll never get that back again so enjoy it while you can.

Along with anime I'm guessing material like that might be more popular with adults in states with legalized marijuana. ;)

We watched Avatar (the anime version is best) and it was fun. I do not remember much your daughter would be to young to see.

Find some people to shoot rifles with there must be some in your area.  see if you buy the ammo you can try different rifles/ long guns to see what you like. A friend wanted a Mosin .. until he shot one. Best way to tell will be to try as many as you can.

Don't you need a shooting range in that highrise?

Could be worse - could be in Afghanistan. :)

I was there this time of year and it was boring too...  Except when it wasn't.

I spent a lot of that time reading donated magazines about my pastimes, and thinking about all the stuff I wanted to do when I got home.  Take your significant other camping.  Hiking is virtually free, and nobody ever looked back and thought they did too much fishing.  Pick something, get out and do it, and be glad that you can ;)

Bored & slow at work this time of year too. But we get all the work done & get out early, paid for full day. 1.5hrs early today & should be able to pull off 3hrs early Friday.

Boredom sucks. I tend to browse the net & end up spending too much money. Tomorrow 2 bricks of 22lr will arrive ($21.00/brick) good deal these days but I do not need more 22LR... Friday a case of 7.62X54R is coming... yay 880 more rounds for the Mosin.

Been reloading 9 & 45 but still have more time than that can occupy.

Hickock45 has to be pissed at me... I have shot all his targets in all his videos at least twice.

Spring Fever already!!!

Some anime is outstanding. Some is not. For gun related I did like Gunslinger Girl. Have heard good things about Gunsmith Cats, haven't seen it yet.
Some of the anime is adult themed not because they wanted an R rating, but because the culture is very different.

It's mainly work that's been boring, and I get my 8 hours worth of work done by 5-6 hours into my shift, but have to stay here for te solid 8 hours. I have to explain where my 8 hours went, but there's a guideline on how long things should take. I just get things done quicker then that. Something that should take 30 minutes I've got done in 10. Anyways, stopped by and saw the new P09 yesterday, filled out my CA paperwork and am now starting the 10 day waiting period for that. If $ permits I'm gonna try to find the wife a high polish stainless CZ. The custom dyed wood for the wife's grips arrive today. Sam and Hakan are awaiting their arrival so she's thrilled about that. And next week shipping the first P09 slide to have the sight set installed and getting the full aray if P09 parts shipped back with it.

I wish they'd let me leave early when I had everything done. Because like you I end up checking out the Internet, have to use my phone as the company firewalls don't le me look at anything interesting. Definitely spend more when I'm stuck sitting here looking at things I want and have the time to convince myself I can afford them.

The good thing is I got the wifi at work going on my cell now so I guess I can check out some Gunslinger Girl and Gunsmith Cats to pass the time instead of shipping. Running out of Top Gear to watch so this helps.

Somehow I would never have taken you for an Anime fan Armoredman. My daughter is a huge anime fan so I know it pretty well, I really liked Ghost in the Shell and Fullmetal Alchemist. As for a lot of the other shows the animation can be amazing but a lot of the story lines just don't cut it for me. You do have to love the costumes on the female characters of course, any one that doesn't believe that hasn't googled "anime" before. A few years back I drove my daughter to Asin, which is a huge anime convention in Chicago. You wouldn't believe the number of beautiful women in skimpy/hot anime costumes... almost made me buy a ticket... almost  :o

I got a loose leaf binder and started a gun book.  In one section I list the guns as I buy them with a column for if/when I sell them.  In this is the where, when and how much.  One section just has serial numbers.  In one section each gun has it's individual page with upgrades and how much was spent, where the parts came from, who did the mods, etc.  You can have a section where you keep track of other gear such as holsters, mags, belts, range bag, etc.  Again, how much you paid, where you bought, etc.  I wish I would have started this from the get-go.  I have some information that goes back a ways and other tabs that I just started.  You could also do an ammo log per gun in this arrangement.  Making comments on what you have learned, what tips you've picked up could also be helpful.

Artist, I got into it when I "retired"...found myself watching 4 straight hours of anime onlin,e had to go back to work.
Ghost in the Shell was OK. Some of the gratuitous nudity in some of the shows throws me off - Sekirei is one, with a really interesting story, but the "r" rated cartoon nudity just throws it off. Chrom Shelled Regios is a clever story with great animation, Blade of the Phantom Master is an interesting anime movie. Still really like Gunslinger Girl - wish they'd make a third season.

Do you have any idea how dangerous the log book idea is?  Keeping track of all the gun items you buy and what you spent???
what if the wife finds it?   ;)

I'm pretty sure fishing is a synonym for boring (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-merv/fishing.gif) (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys.php)as in "if you do it to relax it isn't something you do to get reved up" ;-)

Haha, now that's funny.

Finding my ways to keep the wife interested. As I keep buying more that is. Part of why the stainless will technically be hers when we get it. That's why I looked into the pink F/O rod option. She doesn't want an all pinked out gun like some coated poly guns I've seen. Saw a pink zebra print Glock once, the entire gun was that way, only the magazine escaped coating. The good thing is she's excited about the idea of me hunting so I'll be able to drop some good change on a rifle when I get to that point.

I guess we're after different fish.  The OP was after something he could do without spending money he didn't have, and fishing can be cheap (and provide good eatin').  Unless you're one of those boutique fly-fishing 'river runs through it' wannabes.  Or buy a boat :'(

True story: A friend of ours must have had enough; she literally shot her boat.

Back to being bored at work. Granted it's been a crazy month so I should welcome this slow day. Well I teach at night for my union, I did everything I needed to, to get ready, did my 8 hours worth of work, now just stuck twiddling my thumbs.

Only thing CZ new for me is the P09 is officially on it's way to Schmeky for his Pro-Series job. Still waiting on grips, looks like the Hakan grips will beat Omega and Marschal. By the time I get them back I should be the official owner of a High Polish Stainless Steel CZ75b and a used Remington 870. I'll get some pictures going of my little CZ family once everything is in. Probably gonna check out some Gunslinger Girl or Gunsmith Cats if I can find some. Not sure how to look stuff up but have the laptop with me so can get around the work firewalls.

Gonna look into some hunting classes before I try to find some anime to keep me occupied for the next hour.
