Hay guys I'm kinda in a spot here I have the choice between a phantom in really good shape and going to get a new p-09 in the morning both for the same money. I can only get one wish that wasn't the case. My question is from tjose with the experience which is easiest to shoot well and which would you consider more accurate. I know there all much more accurate than we are but none the less which do ya think just looking for help on the decision I'm a cz nut have been for many years. I have a p-01 and an sp-01 love them to death but thanks for any help yall can give me

The Phantom has been discontinued from import.
Barring a special run or selling of an overrun, it might get pretty difficult to find one.
You can always find another new P-09.

I would get the SP 01 Phantom. It will need trigger work to really shine. While it will take any and all CZ 75 pattern mags, only the factory 18 rnd mags will drop free, in my experience. If for some reason you don't like it, you will be able to easily resell it on here and make money.
P09 will have a better trigger out of the box, mag compatibility is another story.
You will be well served by either, but I would get the Phantom first.

Thanks guys I went ahead and got the p-09 and I'm very tickled with it feels great in the hand and is very accurate got yesterday for $472 out the door. I've got an sp-01 and a p-01 love them all but I shot this p-09 at 50yrds off handed with American eagle 115gr and shot a solid 4" group blew my mind and I know it can do better if benched. I had watched some videos and read were these p-09s were accurate at very long distances so I gave it a try and wow theyare. I shot at 15-20 as well if I do my part it will simply rag a hole out 1" groups I love this thing awesome value these guns will climb in price soon I believe. I fully recommend the p-09 to anyone very low recoil as well

Wow, that's a pretty good report! Sounds like you can shoot it!
I had the same reaction to mine. I didn't really want to like the P-09, but, once I shot it, I was hooked. I could gripe about the plastic feel and sound, but not about the results. The results were as good as I had been able to do with some very expensive reworked all steel guns. In some cases, better.
I might clean mine when I put in the latest CGW trigger parts. Not before. Maybe not even then, except for the how-to video.

Hay Joe that video would be great I do all my work here at the house . I've done every trigger on my czs and put David's spring kits in he is a great guy and has the best products. But as far as me shooting the 4" group at 50yards I didn't get that today but you know how that goes from one day to the next ya just have those good days the best I got today was 6" but that still satisfies me I was playing around with some reloads it seems to really like Winchester auto comp I've got 115gr extremes behind it. It truly loves PMC 115 I would love to know from anyone what they have shot well thru there p-09. And to Joe I love your videos very interesting and great shooting no dought about that . I have a question not sure if you can answer it but wonder what bullet and powder are used in those Georgia arms ammo? If you have any idea please let me know thanks
-
Coleman, it is Atlanta Arms ammo, not sure what powder or bullet they are using. You might be able to ask them, very nice folks, sponsor lots of shooters and events, especially helpful to veterans. Their stuff has always been good in thousands of 9mm rounds I've bought from them. They had us rationed last year, but not this year, at least so far.

Joe L, what are you ordering from Atlanta Arms? Remanufactured or new brass loads?
-
Both. When we were rationed last year I had to order some match grade new ammo, but I usually just get the remans. I can't tell a difference in accuracy. In my videos, if you see a blue box its reman, a black box is new brass loads. Sometimes I forget to point it out. I shoot 115 most of the time, but have a box or two of 147 that I shoot in a 5" SIG some times. The 115 works quite well in the P-09 and 75B and the 4.4" barrel SIGs.
The JHP seems to be more accurate than the FMJ, and the holes are prettier.

Coleman,
What shop had the Phantom? Do they still have it? Where are you located? Will they ship maybe? I've been looking for another one.
Thanks!

Jdubya87 the phantom belonged to a guy I know it was used of course but I do believe he sold it ill try and find out. They are a great gun and shoot well.

Joe l I have read a lot that the p-09 really likes 124gr rounds and heavier. Just wondering if you've experienced that at all I seen where you shoot a lot of 115 that's all I've run thru mine it seems to be somewhat more picky with ammo than my sp-01 and p-01. I'm gonna try some 124s tomorrow and see how they do all I have is armscor

Jdubya87 I'm sorry I forgot I'm in southern Kentucky

I haven't kept up with different P-09 ammo since I am set in my ways and not interested in experimenting much since I have had such good results with the 115 JHP. I'm just used to the feel and recoil timing with the 115. The 147 seemed sluggish (after shooting 115) and the point of aim is a little different. I just prefer the 115, not saying it is better or worse than 124 or 147, just that I quit experimenting and am very happy with the 115 in the sub 5" guns. I could make do with any weight, given a little time to sight in a given weight and load. I choose to stick with the 115 Atlanta Arms JHP or Remington UMC if I see a box at a good price.

1st 10 shots with brand new P-09 (Schmeky's parts and sights.) It's the 2" x 4" trademark in the upper left corner of a sihouette target from 50 ' at new local indoor range.

Jdubya87 the fellow that had the phantom sold it about a week ago and the feller that bought it is in love with it sorry about that I know how hard they are to get a hold of
-
They discontinued the Phantom. The Omega trigger in the P-07/P-09 is WAY better stock and you can work on it unlike the Phantom. I've shot them both - NO comparison.
