I have a C-100 that I will carry for CCW. I?m a big guy and my pinky finger sits in the middle of the protruding mag plate. It?s very uncomfortable to shoot. So I decided to modify them to sit flush with the bottom of the frame. The three mags used are the flat base Mecgar 14 round mags.
Here?s what I did:
1. Trace the bottom of the frame up against the mag plate with a silver colored marker.
2. Grinded down the mag plate a little at a time on a grinding wheel.
3. Cleanup the edges of the mag plate with a stone.
4. Blast the plates with aluminum oxide (sand blast).
5. Parkerized the base plates. I?m set up to refinish guns in my garage. I have the ability to parkerize guns as well as Gunkote (spray on baked finish) guns. I could have refinished the entire magazine(s) with parkerizing and the Gunkote them black, but I just didn?t feel like it. I think the parking of the base plates is good enough for now. Granted, it does not match up with the blued mag body, but I don?t care. The next time I park and Gunkote a gun I may do the mags at the same time.
The flush fit mags fell much better and I?m sure they will be a joy to shoot.
Thanks, Paul

Thanks for your comments. It was actually pretty easy. It took me about an hour to do the three mag plates from start to finish.
