Title: Do You Like Your Tristar C-100?
Post by: RogerCZ75Bfan on April 22, 2014, 06:40:59 PM
Nice trigger? Gritty? Smooth DA? Light and crisp SA? Decent reset? Serrations on trigger bothersome?
Reliable? Accurate?

I sure like mine.  I have a low round count, but it has never missed a beat with factory ball and lead reloads.  It's pretty accurate too.  When I do my part I can shoot a 1"-1.5" group at 7 yards.  I put a CGW spring kit in it.  The single action breaks at 4 pounds, 14 oz.  I'm not sure what the double action breaks at since my trigger scale only goes to 8 pounds.  The had a bit of creep and take up in the SA trigger pull, but the more rounds I put through it the better it feels.  The trigger pull is as good or better than any CZ I have ever owed.  I use the pistol as my CCW carry gun and really love it, especially due to its light weight (23.5 oz. without a mag in the pistol).

Thanks, Paul

I really like C-100.  The double action is heavy.  The single action has some take up, but is smooth.     The gun is accurate.  I liked it so much, I got a S-120 as well.  I put CGW spring kits, inexpensive Ebay/Thai hardwood grips, and Meprolight night sights on both.  I never thought about the serrations on the trigger.  Both of my Tristar/Canniks have been cycling all types of cheap ammo, with no issues.  Zero failures to feed or extract after several hundred rounds though each.  The factory sights on the S-120 had me shooting high, but the replacements have corrected that.

got mine last summer, replaced the original springs and hammer pins with cgw springs and pins. one of my favorite guns. nice sa trigger and very accurate. would love to get different grips but most i've seen online are expensive. great little gun.

I bought a pair of rubber grips for a cz75 compact at MidwayUSA for $27 for my stingray-c. I think they might fit the c-100 too.

Do CZ75 compact grips fit a C-100 as they come, or do they need some modification?  If so, anything major?

On mine the screw holes are offset slightly...

Hopefully soon I will have one on the way.
Bought a Stingray a couple months ago, loved it but was enticed by the light weight of the C100, bleep you Paul. Ha,ha!
Sold the Stingray today.
The single action breaks at 4 pounds, 14 oz.  I'm not sure what the double action breaks at since my trigger scale only goes to 8 pounds

We will have to do some measurements here soon Paul.
I have a new trigger scale for up to 12lbs. coming. Maybe that will be enough.
I figure if I am going to keep working on these things might as well be able to measure the results.
I am still going to do a detailed report on CGW parts install in the near future.

Is the C-100 alloy? I had thought the C series was steel. T's are definitely alloy. My T-100's frame is very light. IIRC the whole gun with mag is somewhere around 2lbs (like most CZ's/clones with aluminum/alloy frames, give or take a little for different slide/barrel lengths and whatnot), and steel is more like 2.5lbs or more.

Are the 'S' series from Tristar the steel ones, then? L, again, is alloy, I had thought.

The double action on my Cajunized C-100 breaks at 7lbs 15oz and the single action at 3lbs 10oz. David does some great work!

The C-100's frame is aluminum or aluminum alloy.  It's not steel.  I'm 100% positive about that.  I weighed mine without a mag in it and it weighed 23.5 oz.

I'm leaning heavily toward buying a C-100 as my first CZ-style pistol.  I can't afford to do much to it.  I could manage a spring kit.

Do these pistols generally feed hollowpoints well out of the box?  If they need some work, is it just a matter of polishing the feed ramp, or more involved?

OMG  You sold your Stingray? Was it a compact model? I hear they're one of the best shooting clones out there.

It is, but I already own several CZ's and this was meant as a everyday carry gun for me.
Although slightly more compact than my CZ75B SA, 3/4" one dimension and 1/2" in the other it still weighs about the same as my full size.
The reality that I faced is that after carrying it regularly, that I sought the lighter weight that I have in the RAMI with a slightly larger frame size.
I think that ultimately the C100 will serve this purpose better for me than the Stingray.
I will miss the Stingray but look forward to the creation of a wonderful gun in the form of a custom built C-100.
I will follow the map that I already set out with the Stingray but will continue this path with the lighter C-100.
These include a full CGW makeover at my hands, and a set of CZ Custom tritium combat sights.
Not the cheapest C-100 but it will be one h*ll of a gun.

I will update everyone with the full proceedings when all the cards are in play.
I hope to do a full photographic review of the process and a cost analysis of everything done for everyone's benefit.

The Stingray has some advantages in the form of more mass for more stable shots, and a light rail which I will miss.
But this will the best path for what I want to accomplish.

The 9mm C-100 is an aluminum alloy frame.  There is a 40 S&W version that is all steel.

My C-100 40 S&W has a very nice smooth trigger with no grit. Single action is very nice. It has as good a trigger as any pistol I have. It is a very well made gun.
I had it out this morning for 100 rounds, I shoot tighter groups with through C-100 than any other gun I have.
Well worth the money.

I understand. Sounds like nice plans with the C-100. Keep us informed as to how things come along.

The Tristar website says the C100 weighs 1.53 lbs. If I do my math conversion correctly, that's just 21 oz. Right? Or are the numbers to the right of the decimal point "tenths of a pound''?
If not, the C-100 is as light as a Glock 19?   Seriously?

Does the C100 have a smooth backstrap with no texturing at all?

1.53 pounds = 24.48 oz.

.1 pounds = 1.6 oz.

Again, I weighed mine with a mag out of the pistol it came up to 23.5 oz.

Thanks for clarifying that. Guess I need a math refresher.
Thanks clever username. Although, a smooth backstrap is the only think that doesn't give me that tingly feeling about this pistol.
