Title: The anticipation! Finally shot it!!!!
Post by: Firemanjones on June 22, 2014, 08:49:53 AM
When one orders a gun online it is different than going to the store and having it immediately.
The anticipation builds as I wait for it to arrive. In the meantime I get to call David again and order the parts that I am going to install, order extra mags from Cote and a backup recoil spring and slide stop.
I ordered a P-09 FDE. I am going to Cajunize it to the max since it will be a target pistol.
I can't wait!

Congrats!  I am seriously considering ordering one directly from David.  That way I get it already completely upgraded.  I just can't decide if I want a P07 or P09.  The P07 would probably get more use but I keep hearing such wonderful things about the P09.  Oh well, decisions, decisions.  Looking forward to reading your post-Cajunizing range report.

I understand the anticipation totally.  I am a Walther fan (at least of the PPQ and my edc PPS in 9mm) and have tried or owned many top manufacturers and had settled on those 2 Walther models because of the high quality.  From S&W to Glock-HK-Sig-Kahr-Ruger-etc.....but hadnt shot a CZ, only held a 75.....I have been waiting to get the newer PPQ in the 5" configuration,  but have been doing a bunch of research on the CZ P09.....and with each comment and review I read I started realizing I may have found another high quality pistol I might love....and when I found I could save a couple hundred $ on a high quality CZ P09, I wanted to try it even if I am not a DA/SA fan.....we'll, ordered off of Grab a gun,  and received it in less than 7 days from time of order.  It took 4-5 days for them to ship it out (ordered on Friday evening) but then they sent it "overnight" on Wednesday and got it Thursday afternoon, all for $5.99 shipping. I was expecting at least 7-10 days for ground......very unexpected surprise. Pictures and range reviews to come......

Welcome to the forum cznine.
I am a Walther fan as well, owning a P5, P1, PPK/S and the PP. I sold the PPS because it didn't feel comfortable since it is a small single stacked pistol.

Firemanjones, I know exactly what you are talking about lol. How do you think I feel driving cross country and ordering something, knowing I will not be able to get my hands on it until I return for my scheduled time off hahahahaha

I think it's great to build your own.  The only problem is CGW will have to charge double for Firemanjones orders  O0

Everyone else gets standard pricing  ;)

Well guys, I ordered my Cajun parts for my P-09 this morning (which I of course was charged triple [not double]so David could take the rest of the day off). ;)
I ordered the hammer, short reset kit, self defense sprig kit & trigger spring. That should make it a good target gun.

David, thanks for the advise. After trying to bend the trigger bar spring, I used the dremmel with the bit which has the round ball at the end(engraving cutter) and shaved the side of the spring which was rubbing against the mag. She resets wonderful now with an empty mag.

I sat down this afternoon and Cajunized the P-09. I installed all the springs, firing pin, hammer, oversized roller and short rest kit. I functioned tested it and what a difference.
Now to shoot it later this week, the final anticipation!

Very nice!
Now for a range report.....

WOW!
What a shooter, especially with it Cajunized as mentioned earlier in this thread.
I shot Tula Brass115, Federeal 115, and Aquillia 124. I have never had a problem with the reg Tula before, but Tula Brass was like shooting Remington UMR, CRAP. The Federal and Aquillia shot with no problems.
I am very happy with this pistol. I installed the gold spring for the P series which is 15# for the range, but next time out I will have the blue 13# for completion use only and see what it does.

On the way out of the range I saw a table with S&W model 15 police trade-ins for $279.00!
I went over and found a model 19-3 .357 from a private collection and purchased it for the same price. This was a deal! I went back in the range and shot it with .38 special. Man what a shooter!
Now I will have to get some .357 and shoot a few rounds.
Picture to come later I the GENERAL FIREARMS DISCUSSION AREA.
I am one happy person today!
