Well I had sold all my CZ85 Combats because I found that I just didn't shoot them much. This left me without any CZs (although I had a bunch of hi-caps).
Last night I was bored so I started reading the new PCR and P0-1 boards. I was surprised to find that the PCR was discontinued. I always really liked that gun but do not normally buy "black" guns (all mine, with the exception of a couple of two tones, are stainless or hard chrome type finished guns).
Anyway, I had a gun to sell which was my reason for going to the Dallas Market Hall gun show today but in the back of my mine I was determined to find a PCR.
Got there just as the show opened and hit the 2 dealers who usually had quite a few CZs. Well there was only ONE PCR to be found at the show & it was not a hybrid but the regular PCR. It was $399 + tax and I bought it the minute I found it.
Took it home and cleaned/lubed it. What a nice feeling gun. Going to shoot it tomorrow. I dont think I like the new frame design of the P0-1 but of course I haven't seen it in person yet. So with that in mind, I called my dealer (doesn't do gunshows) and asked if he could still get a PCR. He "swears" that he can and so I've ordered 2 more. One will be a safe gun, one a backup carry gun, and one to practice with a lot at the range. Talk about going overboard. I just hate it when guns are discontinued because this makes me go out and buy multiples when normally I wouldn't.
So I sold the handgun I took to the gunshow for $1000 and spent about $1299 (including tax) which wasn't exactly the plan (so much for my "vacation" fund) but it sure was fun.
Will post a picture and range report tomorrow.
Thanks alot guys.........you and your PCR posts ....... geez....now I can't put the thing down and I alread named her "Rascal".

Velcome to CZe Forum....We wish you and Rascal can become the best of friends....I love my PCR...but I also like the PO1 and its full length frame also...if we could just get one without the Inspector Gadget Rail....
Let us know how you do with your new found love...

Actually the rails are what I don't like too...call me old fashioned. I don't intend on ever putting a light on mine. But it seems as if rails are a hot item. The SIG 220 ST has the rails, the Beretta Vertec has rails, and now the PO1. I don't mind the full length frame (seems to look the same as the extended dust cover on my SVIs).
I'm not going to kid myself.....I'm sure I'll end up with a PO1 and if I like it enough I'll sell my "safe CZ PCR" and buy a second PO1 so that I'll have two of each (PCR and PO1). That's the way it seems to go around here.
One dealer I spoke too wasn't even aware of the PO1 (the dealer I purchased the PCR from) and the other dealer that always has a full line of CZs said he order was 60-90 days out. Seems too long to me but perhaps not. Sure will be interested in seeing one in person.

Well I actually found a picture of a hybrid PCR that has the PO1 frame (with nothing attached to it so I could get a good view of it) and I do like it. Now I'm hoping to find a hybrid as well as a PO1. Then I'd have all three configurations.
I've seen mentioned the the slide on some PCRs have PCR or Mod PCR on them by the ejection port. My PCR doesn't have PCR on it anywhere but it does have the smooth trigger. So once again, which PCRs would have "PCR" or "PCR MOD" on the slide? And I suppose mine with the smooth trigger is yet another configuration?
Obviously I am very confused.
-
Dont be confused...right now the PCRs and the Hybrids are just using left over parts from CZ. My PCR is an 00 model and has the mod PCR" and the serrated trigger...the new one I checked out was just like yours. Its still a tried and true PCR.
The smooth trigger is nicer than mine....Ill have to get one.
The Mod PCR is gone off of the slide, just a guess, probably because they are using them on the Hybrid and its not really a PCR or PO1....removing it from the slide just helps "not confuse" people?????????
Dont be confused..transition guns usually go through this kind of thing.....

Great find on the $399 PCR! I'm sure you will really like the accuracy at the range too. And after 500-800 rnds you'll like the trigger even better, my wife's PCR has ~900 rnds through it and the trigger is now smooth as silk. Now if I can get my wife to let me shoot "her" PCR....

Well now I've gone and done it.
I have the PCR that I purchased yesterday. I then had my dealer order 2 more (he still swears he can get them). Then I called him and changed my order to just 1 more because I just KNOW that I'll probably end up with a PO1 also.
So now I am sort of hoping that the 2nd one is a hybrid although the PCR like the one I just got would be just fine since I still like that styling the best.
Unfortunately I didn't get to go shoot my PCR today. Will try to do so this week after work. I did go back to the gun show and purchased a holster that seems to work OK (also wanted to check that the dealers hadn't been hiding any PCRs from me....ha ha).
When carrying this gun I plan on using the 10 round mag and a 15 round backup mag. I really would like to get a few of the 13-14 round flush fitting mags though. I can't seem to find them anywhere which is no surprise.
Question: Is is possible to hardchrome a CZ? I don't know what the process is but I sure would like a hardchrome (or satin nickle or something like that) looking finish. Just wondering if this is possible and if it is successful or not.
Thanks. I'm going to post pictures soon.

Well I took one of my new PCRs to the range today and put about 100 rounds through it. Used S&B ball ammo and Ranger STX ammo. The gun functioned 100% will both ammo types.
I had taken one 15 round mag with me to play with and the PCR would NOT feed from the mag after the first round. Put the 10 round back in and 100% again. I have plenty of 15 rounders and could see which ones work but I have six 14 round mags coming in so I won't test anymore of the 15 rounders (since the stick out of the grip anyway). One of my 15 rounders is a Sphinx mag rather than a factory CZ mag and I think that may have been the one I had with me.
Anyway, I am very pleased with the gun and the fact that it didn't have any hiccups with the Ranger ammo. Of course I will test it with the new mags that I intend to use as carry mags with several hundred rounds to make sure everything is OK.
As it turns out I DID purchase 2 more PCRs and they are the same as my first one.....regular PCR but with the smooth trigger. No hybrids which is OK. Funny that I purchased the first one from a dealer at the gun show and had my "normal" FFL order the other two. Lo and behold, the one from the gunshow and one of the ones that my FFL got me are consecutive serial numbers. I'm going to sell or trade one of them (the non-consecutive serial # gun) and just keep two PCRs so consecutive serials are kinda nice.
I was changing the grip screws out and one of them was VERY difficult to remove and I thought for a minute that I had bungled up the screw so bad that I wouldn't be able to remove it. Finally got it out and put in the new slot screws (really wanted hex but can't find any).
Will be buying some different, thinner wood grips and that's about all the changes I'll make.
Thanks to reading the posts on this forum I was able to get a couple of the non-P01 models. I wasn't aware they were being discontinued.

For hotter ammo...like in a CCW, Id recommend an 18-20# wolff recoil spring and for the best in fine grips..from any wood you can find Hakan is the man. Hell do you the best for you little alloy framed friend.

Yesterday i had the opertunity to pick my new PCR from a dealer layaway. I noticed that the dealer still had some of these 75-D compacts in stock and sitting nice and neat inside one of his display cases. The little devil on my right shoulder was wispering in my ear and so i took he plunge one more time and bought one more for a safe gun for 399.00 green backs. I know with all hype and popularity of the new P01 and suspected import supply concerns from CZ the P01 will be vary elusive animal for a long time at more cost due supply and demand of this free market. The compact 13 rd mags are almost non existant, but the CZ 15 rounders work just perfect and may stick out by a half inch is no big deal. As said above the ten rounders are excellent for carry and 15 rounder for back up is an excellent idea.

Youre right about the importation being reduced. The PO1 isnt reduced by free market demand as of yet..but only 1/3 of the expected quantities are coming in on the first order.
So, well have to see how many that is.
As far as the 13 rnds mags being available or not..they are around from time to time. Just keep you ears to the ground.
