Title: Good Week for Me! New P-01!
Post by: TF135Sierra2Xray on July 11, 2014, 12:07:14 PM: So I just this morning picked up a brand spanking new P-01. I was hoping it would be a 2014 model as I heard they were in production last month, but alas it was a NIB '13 model. And to make matters worse it was missing the NSN, and was roll marked, *GASP*, CZ 75D Compact!!! For all those basement dwellers that lack any common sense that was sarcasm!

This one will go in the safe, still packed in grease, so that I may feel more comfortable carrying my '11 model, properly marked and carrying the NSN, P-01 as an EDC without worrying if I can find a replacement should it be used in a defensive shooting. The previous EDC, a SIG SP2022 (which was heavier even though it was polymer framed), went in trade. I wasn't comfortable carrying the CZ until now as we all know they spend most of the year as unobtainium, whereas the SIG SP2022 (and Glocks as well) can be found in pretty much every gunshop/ big box store/ pawn shop gun case. I pray that I never have to unholster any of my firearms against another human being, but I'm glad that should that need ever arise I have one of the widest used MIL/ LE handguns in the world at my side!

Now to get out to the range and unlearn all my bad SIG habits!

I think the first P-01 I tried at a range, had the NSN number but didn't have P-01 on the slide. You'll have to get that one, too.

You could also get one of every year production!!

I'm kidding...... kinda

I have come to the conclusion that I need three, since its now my EDC and they are rare enough to make it a huge pain in the ___ to have to replace in the event its used in a defensive shooting. I say three because my wife has been eyeballing it A LOT this past week!

Than again I have a PCR in transit to my FFL now, so maybe just a second PCR and they can be "the wife's". lol
