Title: Why no .40 love CZ
Post by: 10mmdude on July 15, 2014, 08:18:55 AM
This question is for who ever can answer it...

Why is it impossible to obtain or create a 75 in .40 if you so t buy the whole pistol?
I would love the option to be able to buy a .40 upper, I think a lot of others as well!!

Just think, you have 9mm shadow uppers and you could do the same with .40 as well!
Have an accu .40... It doubles the option and uppers you can sell and Idk all the ins and outs of the competition circuit but I do know from reloading that guys use it to make major PF, if they had a .40 upper they could do it no problem with out the need to buy a new gun :)
Basically I like the 40 I have just in all my 75 shooting never shot one and I think with the design of the 75 .40 would shoot very nice :)

Sorry for unneeded exclamation points I'm not yelling I swear!!!!!!!!!

Not sure. Around here 40 cal is pretty unpopular during the ammo scare you could buy shot shells and 40sw.

Its easy to make major with the 9mm cz's so you would have to give up capacity for ?

I still like the idea and think it would be nice if you could get the 75 series in 40,10,45 but I'm not sure the demand is there or if its even possible.

How do you get to major 9 in a CZ?   I have to load mine awfully short to try to push it that fast.   I guess I could ream the barrel.

I think the big failing of 40 cal for all steal CZ's is limited capacity.    A Glock 22 or M&P 40 holds 15 40 cal.    A CZ75, in 40 cal, holds 12.   On the plus side, the P series have competitive capacity.

If you want a .40 upper just wait until you find a good deal on a used 75b .40. Buy the gun and sell the frame. I would think you should easily recover a high percentage of your cost.  I would bet you could easily sell a frame to a number of people including a lot of people who want their kadet kits to have a permanent home.

I'm not one who is an authority on competitive pistol shooting, the rules or the go to kinda guidelines but I'd think it would be hard to make major in 9???

But I do agree that it would be real cool to have the 75 frame have more options like the witness line, it would be so cool to a multi cal gun (primarily just .40) I'm sting to see how 40 shoots outta a 75..
I'd figured it would feel like 9 outta any other gun ;)

I never actually thought of that idea! What do u think a frame would realistically go for?

Only problem with that and why me and my shooting buds are so partial to conversions is we live In the communist state of new Germany I mean New Jersey where obtaining a pistol is a very long process :/

To make 9mm major easy a throat reamer is needed. Now you can make major but to keep the pistol from beating itself to death a threaded barrel and comp are the only way to go.

So I'm guessing your loading your own 38 super in 9mm cases, or as long as the mag will allow?
What are they like 1.20coal?

That's a real neat idea! Like I said I'm no authority on this only trying to finds solutions for problems I don't have lmao

I must be a dumb because I don't understand some of the comments here.

USPSA requires a minimum .40 caliber projectile for Major power factor in the Limited/Limited 10 divisions.

The only people using a 9mm loaded to a major power factor are doing so in the Unlimited division and they are using compensators as well.

What am I missing here?

JMike,  two questions were asked.
In "Limited" division,  the 40 mag capacity is limited.

Smitty 79 asked about 9 mm major /  Open Division with a std. 75 model.  That brought up reaming the chamber to get the longer 9mm aols easier to load to major PF.
Here,  the mag well,  threaded bbl,  lengthened mags and comp would have to be added to make it competitive.  The bbl is also short for 9mm major loads with the slower powders.  Then I don't know how long it would hold up to the heavier loads.

Smitty,  the 9x19 can be loaded to major without lengthening the chamber,  but getting enough gas to operate a comp. needed in Open Class would be harder to do.   A caseful of Silhouette compressed does a nice job generating gas in a longer bbl..  ;)

LOL! My comments were more "tongue in cheek" than anything due to the content (some of it erroneous) of the thread. But thanks for responding.

If someone wants a CZ in .40SW that isn't "magazine handicapped"; there is always the CZ 75 Tactical Sport. I realize that pistol isn't a CZ75 B but it does solve the magazine issue with it's standard 16 round magazines. Btw, that is more rounds in a 40SW pistol than ANY stock pistol available except for a 2011 style pistol.

As far as the 9mm being pushed to major, if someone really wants to do that, why not just buy a CZ 75 TS CZechmate? It is a race-ready factory gun with all the trimmings. Again, I know it isn't a CZ75 B but it is a CZ 75.

I have one gun that will chamber a round over 1.200  ;D but I run all my hot stuff at 1.169. Lately been working on the carbine with major ammo. Been pushing over 200 power factor out of the 16in barrel.

JMike, exactly:  get the right pistol for the use intended.

T.C.  your reinforcing my growing impulse to get a carbine that I don't really need. ;D

That's not good cuz I just ordered some Teflon coating and cast up some more 124gr bullets. I'm gonna break 1800fps with this 9mm one way or another.

One thing I noticed is my 124gr 6 cavity mold is trashed so I'm really gonna have to hand pick some bullets for the 1000ft shots. Tho I'm not even sure its gonna make a different at that range but there's only one way to find out.

Don't mind me guys and my futile attempts to get this topic back on track lmao...

But if one had a .40 upper is anyone making 9mm conversion barrels for them? I know efk was but stopped...

Like I said I live in NJ and conversions are quite popular since buying a pistol is such a criminal like thing to do ;)

Pretty sure no one at this time makes conversion barrel except the kadet kit which is a shame. Im sure theres someone on here that probably has a 40 upper or maybe check the Brian Enos forums very good chance there to.

I would love a CZ compact .45

I would also love to see an ergonomic (because the 97 is NOT) CZ Compact (P-01 or PCR) in .45!  As it stands SAR makes the best CZ style .45 on the market, but its steel framed, full size, and is not available with a decocker.  The SAR K2 .45 is likely going to be my first .45 as it stands now, because the CZ 97 is just too thick in the grip, with too small a capacity to warrant expanding into the expensive .45acp cartridge.

Are you listening CZ?  We would love a flush fitting 10+1, or better yet 12+1 .45 with a thinner grip (more like the SAR K2) in a compact alloy frame, with a decocker!  Let's call it the CZ 97D Compact or CZ 97 P-01(or P-03, 45, etc).  Come on, if the Turks can do it copying the CZ 75B, I know you can do it!
