Let me preface this with this simple fact: I would be just as comfortable carrying either of these regardless of what I had to choose, in addition to any of my other pistols be it my Steyrs, Walthers, Ruger, Glock, CZ-clones, etc. As of right now though, the CZ has a slight edge for my choice, as I prefer it's shorter grip (and with 1 round higher capacity), the sights are easier to acquire (bigger, brighter dots), the magazine release is much easier to depress (I use the middle finger of my shooting hand), I can use CZ-75B mags if necessary (and those from associated clones), it just seems to balance better in my hand and finally, I have simply put many more rounds down range with it w/o any issues.
However, advantages to the Grand Power are an unbelievable trigger that puts the CZ's Omega Trigger to shame, complete ambidextrous controls, better fit for a variety of users through four separately sized palm swells, and an easier disassembly/reassembly .
Let's start with them side by side. You can see that both pistols are very similar in appearance, with the CZ having a slightly shorter grip, contributing to a slightly shorter height.(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/24/bypuqepy.jpg)
In these shots you'll see the differences in their respective widths and designs. Here the G.P. has the edge, having a similar profile like a traditional, slimmer CZ.(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/24/juba6u5u.jpg)
Front and rear profiles.(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/24/unu6yny7.jpg)
Now for the nitty gritty, TRIGGER PULL!(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/24/a5yqasa5.jpg)(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/24/yge7yja9.jpg)(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/24/2uze9uzy.jpg)
The Grand Power fits my P-07 Winthrop IWB holster almost perfectly...ALMOST(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/24/ebemu5em.jpg)

Would like to see the accuracy between the two....ya know 7y/15/25
-
I would not worry about the amount of metal below the front sight, never heard of a problem with it.
Both seem very good. I really like my P-07.
-
Very well done. I only beg to differ on the SA reset. Mine is less than half that. The take up that you show is definetly annoying, but I have gotten used to it, and the dependability and accuracy of the P07 won me over permanently. Looking forward to your range report.

Thanks!
DWARREN, I appreciate it. I have no doubt in the dependability of my CZ, I'm just not used to seeing such a small, limited amount of metal underneath the front sight for the slide.
Muggia59, I wish my reset was equal to yours. Even the one i purchased for my uncle exhibited the same long reset as mine.
CZ671, definitely planning on a very detailed report when I can get home and to the range again. As for their initial trips right out of the box, both of them shot and grouped fairly well the first time running rounds through them. I just have to get more time at the range so that I can tighten the groups up and get them centered.

Y'all be safe, crossing border soon, probably not back til sometime Saturday!

Nice shooting, have not shot my GP since barrel change need to make a range trip. Owned the czp07/extended barrel and FNS long slide and the GP, I ended up selling the p07

Good report.
I think all review should have a thorough trigger photo analysis from now on. :)
Thanks

thanks for the size comparison pics! what type of holster do you use for the P1? I like the Serpa-type holsters and I'm wondering if the P1 would fit one made for the CZ...
the trigger is very nice on my P1 as well!
-
Right now I'm using a Winthrop IWB w/belt loops for all of my pistols. The P1 fits very nicely in the one made for the P-07, just sticks out a little more, a little higher as shown in the earlier pics.
Just ordered an MTR combo holster for my P-07 (with snap loops in lieu of clips); all leather, can be worn as a hybrid-style IWB or, as an OWB paddle. (http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/08/04/ge4ebyry.jpg)

Excellent report!

With regard to holsters...I can't confirm these, but the top two suggestions I've seen for cross-compatible holsters are .45ACP Glocks (21, I think) or the S&W M&P. Glock 21 holsters are hard to find, but the M&P's are plentiful. I've been meaning to head to a local store to try out a couple, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Nice!

That is nice. That is also the one I converted to fit the P07. If I had taken a little more time, it might be perfect, but it works for me ;D. Also looking at MTR holsters.
-
I finished making an IWB hybrid today.
Not very hard to do, if one is inclined to give it a try.

Very nice job Hene!

Well, this sucks! I'm on my last 9 days of work and it doesn't look like I'm gonna be able to get through Iowa and get my GP back before my time off. So my next range report for it may be on hold for awhile gang...

Comparison with my CZ P-01....
Well, I finally got the GP back from the babysitter and decided to snap a few pics next to my P-01. I won't be able to do an actual range comparison for another few weeks, so I've been dry firing both of them quite a bit, SA and DA. The trigger on the Grand Power is still tops, but especially in DA, where it is noticeably a much lighter, smoother pull. So without a doubt my CZ's will eventually be getting some love from CGW, as the P-01and '14 P-07 are still my #1 & 2 choices for carry. 'Nuff said!
I've listed the trigger measurements from the starting point at rest, then when all slack is taken out of the trigger and you actually start hitting resistance, when the hammer is released, and how far out the reset is.
Also, I measured these from the centerpoint on the rear of the trigger, to the rear most inside of trigger guard (subject to correction). When possible, I will get the pull weights measured and list those asap.
P-01 (and my 2014 P-07):
SA Start: 10mm
SA Take up: 4mm
BANG: 2mm
Reset: 6mm
DA Start: 17mm
DA Take up: 15mm
DA ? Cock: 12mm
BANG: 2mm
Grand Power P1 Mk7:
SA Start: 3mm
SA Take up: 1mm
BANG: 0mm
Reset: 2mm
DA Start: 13mm
DA Take up: 11mm
DA ? Cock: 8mm
BANG: 0mm
Now for the customary pictures. CZ on left, Grand Power on right.

Here's a combo shot of the GP slide and frame, showing the rails and lugs for the rotating barrel.

Very nice Cyanide.

Thank you FJ!

This has a real short reset. More like a tuned CZ without FBP and with some version of short reset disco. Overall, seems like a pretty good pustol. Accurate too. Thanks for sharing.
