How was fitting the Hogue grip?

I am in France !

A dremel, a cutter, a half-hour of patience, and the grip is mounted !
That explicit photos (put on a french forum - crazy avatar) !
I cut the inside of the grip,  and enlarged the screw hole to brace the handle against the bridge (pontet ?).
Sorry I do not know how to translate "pontet"?

Pretty clever how you did that.

The VZ is more beautiful with the original folding stock !
But here in France, the new gun laws forcing magazine with folding stock 20 rounds and 30 rounds with fixed stock. This is why I have two VZ each with different stock !

So how difficult is it to get a gun license in France? Are there many public shooting ranges or are there just private? Do you  know the laws on export gun parts? I have a friend who needs some parts for a Lebel rifle.
Your rifles are beautiful, you have done a great job on them.

Thanks !

Shooting areas are easy to access, and paying.
There are less and less shooting area, because of neighborhood problems and responsibilities.
The european government don't like guns ... but I didn't like it...
Here in France, we can import everything, for some parts of weapons stored we must to have an agreement of the French Customs. Easy to receive it !
We would like to buy a lot of nice parts in the USA, but the ITAR requires you don't to send !! Unhappiness
We have to buy in Eastern countries that have opened their shops in the West, with good prices.

What parts do you send in France?

The rifle club I belong to has been in existence for over 100 years (think late 1800s, but can't find that info easily; founded by German immigrants and originally a German social club of sorts).  Located in the suburbs in the last 20 years, housing developments have started sprouting around it.  Which limits the range and requires us to sight in at shorter ranges before moving to the longer rifle ranges...  Not a problem, but it has limited some of the targets we shoot at, etc.

The only real problem we've had is some dimwit threw unfired rounds on her roof a few years back and said bullets from the club were hitting her roof and she left the them up there for the cops to see...  Obviously, they saw through it and there haven't been further issues...

Ultimately, the reason I joined was one that is a lot cheaper to shoot, 2nd no annoying range masters, 3rd all the waits at the public ranges on weekends with all the the new shooters, and 4thly all the new shooters at public ranges and reckless safety violations that terrified me...

Very nice! Both of the Vz58s configurations are great. The urban paint job is very interesting. Thank you for sharing.

You shouldn't have that 30 round mag mounted in the short barrel carbine. The EU gun police will find you.

Well done !
Rifles with folding stock should be clamped magazines 20 rounds, and rifles with fix stock magazines 30 rounds...  ::)
Great law...

I like that urban camo.  Hadn't seen it before.

I'd imagine it'd work quite well -- bearing in mind most military "urban" camouflage is intended to blend in with rubble; while most law enforcement urban camouflage is intended to stand out/distinguish and intimidate.

Excepting whatever the civilian population wears (grays to earth tone shades of that clothing) --

Hypersteath has some of the better urban camo I've seen recently.
This is there Spec4ce line:
http://www.hyperstealth.com/spec4ce/

They're out of Canada, but in the US we can order both their Spec4ce and Deceptex lines, though without the NIR inks (though most of current military camos are pretty awful in NIR anyways...).

http://www.hyperstealth.com/US4CES-CHARLIE/index.html
http://www.hyperstealth.com/camouflagepatterns/spec4ceuniformorder.html

Though of current military adopted camo, I remain a big fan of Italy's brown-heavy woodland vegetato.

Good read on camo: http://www.strikehold.net/2010/04/04/making-sense-of-digital-camouflage/
And hypersteath's site has a ton of info on the science and testing behind camo design as well...

Hyperstealth is developing some interesting urban camos for Canadian Armed Forces:

CUEPAT2 is quite similar to the old T pattern -- type 2 is left, type 1 is right:

Type 1 is what I believe was adopted, however...

This is a pretty interesting commercial universal camo -- came across this camo when looking for 10/22s that are fully dipped...  Bought some camo before the gun -- still not sold yet, but top three are mossy oak obsession, multicam and this camo, natural gear.

It's base is sort of a concrete gray (reads a light tan usually but is definitely gray).  There are darker brown vertical lines, lighter brown mistings/soft fades, and then some coyote splotches.  It is a vertical pattern, so more nature than manmade structures, but the colors are good.  And this one was designed for falll/winter hunting -- likely in more temperate regions than my own.  Initial impressions are that it is too light against any background with substantial green, so here it's probably best in the hottest parts of summer, especially drought years...

They also have this option, which I really like as well -- the SC2/scii.  It appears to be the exact same natural gear pattern, but with a green and rhodesian yellow brush overlay... The yellow reads dried vegatation/grasses and the green is pretty neutral as well.  So adding the green definitely does darken the pattern and close it in a little, but with the near constant green here in my part of TX with cedar, live oak, and winter grasses, that's not a bad thing....

I haven't done any formal camo testing as of yet, but initial impressions are that I think I'll end up preferring it to multicam and italian woodland vegetato (some of my current favorites) in most scenarios just due to the more white which matches the thin soils and all the exposed limestone around here...

naturalgear.com has some good sales going right now, and also offer a winter camo too.

The closest tactical  camo natural gear's standard "natural gear" camo, the one w/o the green, reminds me of is ATACS-AU, but I only have an item w/ ATACS-FG on hand...  I'll pick up some AU to compare...

I forgot that Natural Gear was included the Natick test

*Note that natural gear appears much darker than I personally find it to be.  It actually reads lighter to me than multicam in everything but deep shadow where it reads darker for whatever reason.  By shadow on the wall, I'd presume this picture was taken later than the day than most of the others.

Other patterns in this test:

To note, and the scene pics are in page 12 of full study below, but the urban scene's building color appears to be the exact same as the background wall for these camo pics -- so not the grey/black/blue with interspersed green color scheme that seems to dominate the color palette in major american metros.  Just something to keep in mind as you're looking at the urban results -- in effect, the urban area looks to be a training center for middle eastern urban ops with similar color schemes to that region...

Overall:

Overall by scene:
