Does anyone know if the steel guide rod for the SP01 Shadow is legal for IPSC?
-
if it comes in the gun..it should be legal..as the SP01 Shadow is approved for IPSC production.
-
Hi, I didn't know the shadow came with a steel guide rod? Correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I know there is no option to get a steel guide rod from factory for the shadow, hence it would not be approved for IPSC production. You could always go shoot standard though

a steel guide rod is good for USPSA production..which has different rules than IPSC production.
as long as it doesn't take the gun over 2 ounces factory weight.
-
The steel rod is not Production legal in IPSC. Look at IPSC forum ipsc.invisionzone.com/ind...c=5748&hl= (http://ipsc.invisionzone.com/index.php?showtopic=5748&hl=)

Does anyone know where is it possible to purchase this steel made recoil spring guide? I also wanted to replace plastic, looked in the internet, asked people around, but nobody knows...
-
try Matt Mink or Steve Bedair..
Matt is a moderator at CZshooters..user MatthewMink
Steve can be reached through his website
bedair.org

Steel guide rod is legal for IPSC in America - also called USPSA. But its not allowed outside the US.
-
Just checked Bedair's website and he lists that the SP01 is not available. I thought this is the same part as the 75B?
Why couldn't a person use a 75B rod with a round wire recoil spring?
-
you can..
the prototypes that Steve ran off are full length guide rods..
-
I contacted Steve on this.
SP01 have full length rods, and the rod needs to flex a bit to install.
Standard 75 rods are short, as there is no hole in the end of the slide through which the rod can protrude.
Still waiting on a viable steel guide rod for a SP01...which is interesting as the American Handgunner video showing disassembly certainly has a SS guide rod installed...?

Hi AbyssDncr,
You might take a look at the photo's I posted on CZshooters on how I solved my FLGR installation problem.Any good buddy with a lathe and some s/steel round bar can turn one out for you.I do it for fun so I would send you a bunch if I could.

I think you could use a factory CZ-75B-SA .40S&W guiderod. It is steel and stepped down in diameter for where it goes through the front of the slide. You'll probubly have to take a little off the lower barrel lug (or the guide rod head)so you can get it in there.
I made full diameter (.250") full length stainless guiderods for my CZ's, they required drilling the front of the slide, opening up the recoil sring 'tunnel' in the front of the slide and removal of some of the barrel underlug to get it in there.

I have a steve bedair full lengh guild rod in my cz sp-o1 tactical......It came with the gun when i bought it from the previouse owner. It is "stepped down" about halfway down the rod, and you will have to file an angle on the end that fits to the barrel lug to install it...also you have to use a different recoil spring(beretta 92 spring works well) ..
If you want one i would suggest contacting steve.....The one i have was made for "escher" on the berettaforum. I believe steve will have the dimensions to make another one, but you will have to file the angle yourself. good luck. -sleepy
