Ive just found this site two days ago, and must say thank God.
Im in the market for my first pistol, and Im trying to decide between the CZ75 SS or the sp-01. Now lurking here it seems to me that and correct me if im wrong there is a few problems with the sp01.
Now I should mention that it will be mainly a target pistol but would like to shoot IPSC in the near future as well. Im not rich so only on pistol for now.
Aside from personal preffernce what are the real issues with the sp01. Are they duds out of the box, or finiky purchasers.
Seems alot of guys would rather buy the p01 over the sp01 why. PS I cant buy the p01 since its illegal here, barrel to short.

My SP01 has been great. I've got close to 1000 rnds through mine and the only problem I had was that it didn't like 20 year old ammo (who would've guessed). Other than that, I've had zero FTFs and FTEs with all types of modern factory ammo.

Only 250 rds. through my SP-01. 100% function with PMC Bronze FMJ 115 and 124gr. Great shooter. Going to put a lighter hammer spring in and thats about it.

Over 6000 rounds through my SP01 and the only issues have been user induced. Little tweaks here and there have made it a nice competition pistol.

mine is a couple of years old..not sure how many rounds..but shoot USPSA with it.
mine has had trigger work by Matt Mink and has new sights, and some other changes for personal preferences..
I have had no problems with mine..and it is a great shooter.
probably more people pick the P01 because it makes a better carry gun, being smaller and lighter..the SP01 is a full size gun in size and weight..
I would love to see an alloy framed SP01..I just like full size guns with manual safeties better..

Thanks so much for the replys.
Would it be advisable to buy a sp01 or the sp01 tatical?
What mods would be needed if any to make it a better competition gun? Would they infact be needed?

Hi jester,
If you possibly can,get yourself the SHADOW.It's a fine gun out of the box and with a little polishing here and there, you could not do much better.Just check some of the 'how to' posts on this forum and on CZshooters and you should be good to go

Although I shoot with a guy who decided to go with the Tactical for USPSA production, many have gone with the manual safety model as they appear to be easier to "work" for an action/trigger job.
I myself have a manual safety SP-01 with the usual competition upgrades like the competition hammer, competition rear sight with matching fiber optic front sight and lighter cocobolo wood grips or grips off my Tactical Sport (I think they are walnut) with lighter 13lb mainspring and lighter 11lb recoil spring.
