I have seen some posts about using an o-ring to protect your firing pin while dry firing. I have a Shadow. What size o-ring do you use?

Size #83 is often recommended. Makes a nice little oval when squashed in.

I just went to the store and picked some that looked like they would fit. 3/8" OD should work.

The firing pin safety (pin) is what requires using the O-ring. The Shadow doesn't have a FP safety, so there's no "pin" to damage. Dry fire at will.

As said before - no need for extra do-hickies on Shadow.
Also, Ben Stoger has a very nice book, prolly the best out there for a new competitive shooter - Champion Shooting: Guaranteed Results in 15 Minutes A Day.
