Sorry guys I assume you are all tired of hearing this same question over and over again. I have read every possible thread and watched every possible video, and I have also been trying to get it in for over 12 hours now. I do not understand now how the smaller side of the sear spring can even engage with the auto safety. It seems like it's too small to possibly engage and stay engaged. I am very mechanically savvy, I rebuild classic cars, can fix just about anything and have built guns but this is by far the most frustrating little spring I have ever encountered. Please help! I'm just done with this thing do any of you think it's just worth it to send it back to cz and have them put the bleep spring in?

Rmtomasin, Welcome to the forum! :)
First, start by telling us what specific pistol you're having the problem with the sear spring install.
There may be a pic or two we can find that shows the spring engagement surfaces. If not, there are CZ-smart members that can help.

Ah yes I have a cz82, it was recently cerakoted. The original automatic safety seemed to be worn so I replaced that, now I just can't get the sear spring to seat under the auto safety. I've tried a 1/16 punch and the nail trick as well with no luck.

OK, I delayed answering until I got my own back together to make sure I was remembering correctly (I hope you haven't given up in frustration in the mean time). For me, the keys were (1) a broken toothpick to hold the auto safety and ejector together, as Sailor Curt describes at http://sailorcurt.com/2009/01/cz-82-gunsmithing-part-7.html/ and (2) a 3/64" jeweler's screwdriver.
I was able to put the screwdriver through the hole in the ejector and catch the spring, and push it back as I was lowering the ejector/automatic safety assembly into the frame. Once it was in position, I was able to push the toothpick out using the ejector pin.

I feel your pain! I too considered myself mechanically inclined until the sear spring broke my confidence. I watched all the videos but the only solution was to order a new sear spring from cz usa.
The new sear spring is slightly longer on one end this enables it to engage properly. Also take a small jewelers flathead screwdriver and file a tiny notch in it. Use this through the hole, works like a charm. Don't give up you can do it! I gunkoted it brushed stainless and added walnut grips looks awesome

After hours spent on a single piece, I always end up thinking: "What am I doing wrong?"
In this case, you may be doing nothing wrong, and that CZ82 simply needs a new replacement spring. Trust yourself - 12 hours is long enough, certainly for someone with decent mechanical ability. If the above tips do not help, order a new spring (or two) from CZ-USA http://shop.cz-usa.com/cz-products/pistols/spare-parts/compact (http://shop.cz-usa.com/cz-products/pistols/spare-parts/compact).
Well ... CZ look to be out of stock at the moment. You might try Numrich's - currently sold out too! http://www.gunpartscorp.com/Products/1188290.htm (http://www.gunpartscorp.com/Products/1188290.htm). Good luck!

Wow, I gave up after only 80 minutes. I'd like to say that I'm not stubborn enough to go at it for 12 hours, but ::)

I fought the spring on my 83 for way too long. I compared the spring to another 83 sear spring and it was apparent that the "leg" on mine was too short.
I couldn't find another spring so I ordered some music wire from Amazon and made my own. I then made a second one for a second 83 I had.
Find a spring or some wire and make a new spring.
If you send me a self-addressed, stamped envelope I'll mail you a couple hunks of music wire so you can make a new spring or twp.

I just noticed that CZ-USA currently (03/12/2015) has 89 (!) CZ82/83 Sear Springs in stock at $2.00 each. Thought this might be helpful to someone, given the former 'out of stock' situation. http://shop.cz-usa.com/ProductDetail/0330022001_Sear-Spring-Cz83 (http://shop.cz-usa.com/ProductDetail/0330022001_Sear-Spring-Cz83)
