Title: anyone want to try?
Post by: Christophorus on December 11, 2014, 11:56:09 PM
I saw this page:

Any volunteers with money to spend?  I'm sure this CZ community would be grateful to hear about first impressions and build quality.   :)

Would love to, but that price tag is more than my paycheck.

IMI is doing the same with the Galil ACE.  Releasing an short-barrel pistol before the rifle...  I don't get it.

I'd imagine it has mainly to do with importation laws, 922r, etc. That and CZ doesn't have any manufacturing capabilities in the USA (Dan Wesson doesn't count for this type of stuff). If CZ could import the Bren and Evo straight up as "rifles". I'd bet they would.

Pistols don't have to comply with the onerous "assault rifle" import restrictions, so they can be approved faster. The rifles will come later, (hoping!), when the proper mix of US/foreign parts is worked out for 922(r). Also could be waiting on some machinery to make it to the DW factory to make more parts in the US, but that is simply wild personal speculation and hoping.

I didn't even think about the pistol vs rifle import restrictions...  That'd explain it!
