I am interested in a SP-01 Tactical. I have a P-01 and a 75 D and did not know that a decocker version of the SP-01 was available. It's not mentioned on CZ's website. I want a larger, heavier pistol that has the same operation of what I carry to use in competition (the tactical would be allowed in the comp.).What do you think of the tactical? I know I could use the 75 D or the P-01 for comp. but then I wouldn't get to buy a new pistol.

I have a tactical and it is a great pistol. Larger and heavier with the decoker - just what you are after. I have slowly been doing my ammo/function test and it is a great gun.
The tactical had the exact specs of what I was after for a house gun - night sights, decocker and full-sized with extra weight to retard recoil. Throw in 19 round mags to boot! I like the high cap mags as the gun seems to balance very well when fully loaded - all the ammo balances out the heavy, full length dust cover.
The CZ type of decocker is the good kind - which lowers the hammer to a half-cocked position. I have a Ruger P345 and its decocker is kind of startling and took some geting used to - the firing pin moves out of position to fire the round and the hammer drops the same as if the trigger had been pulled.
Go ahead... buy a Tactical... you will love it!

Thanks for the info! After watching the video, I have to have one. Now to find one.

I have one also, and it's now my nightstand gun. 19+1, full size, feels like my P-01, night sights, rail: it's everything I was looking for. It's also my most accurate CZ.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but for all of you guys who shoot a Tactical, do you rest your thumb on the decocker when firing or not?
I ask here without meaning to hijack as it is relevant to the question in terms of competition use, since the gentleman has a 75 and I am guessing he shoots it this way.
Different people use different things, but I do rest my thumb on it, and so was curious what you guys do.

No.

Me neither.

Nope, do not use it as a thumb rest when shooting.
P7M8 you have an interesting user name... the P7M8 is quite an elegant gun.

Thank you RioGrande. That is part of the reason why I have 2 of them. It is an addiction I tells ya!

Two... you are fortunate indeed! I wish I had just one P7M8!

Just shot my new SP-01 for the first time in the Faribault Rifle and Gun Club USPSA Qualifier for this Saturdays shoot. I have a CZ-75BD Police model that I shot my first qualifier with, but I do have to say that the SP-01 was more controllable. It was very accurate as long as I was.
The only thing I didn't like is that fact that I shoot production and I can only load my mags with 10 rounds
Makes for an interesting stage when you need 34 rounds to complete it! Overall, I love it. By the way, will the SP-01 factory grips fit on a regular CZ-75? I like them much better than my factory stock ones.

I put money down on one today. I think I am going to like it. It's heavy! It may be a week or two before get money straight and pick it up.
