So I picked up my 1st CZ today and it's a MINT Satin Nickel 83 and my 1st item ever on Gunbroker. I bid the min $400 6 days out and won it, hope I didn't overpay ($460 total ship + FFL fee). Box, original Czechy language stuff, etc. Seller told me her husband was clearing some of person armory. It was advertised as less than 100 rounds and I have no reason to doubt it. Looking like '97 prodiction given the stamping and included test "target".
I found this forum last week when I started at holsters when it seemed like I would win the gun. When I brought it home and really got in hand and appreciated its dimensions that I thought about the holster I bought at a garage sale 5 year ago for 5 bucks. JPB 211 L, Sportsman's Warehouse (?) I think. Great fit, secure.

That pistol is definitely a keeper!
Congratulations, and welcome to the forum.

Can't wait to shoot it.
You will love it. Coincidentally, I also have a satin-finished 83, and it was my first Gunbroker purchase. The 83 is a great pistol for new shooters stepping up to anything larger than .22 lr. My kids enjoy shooting mine.

"The 83 is a great pistol for new shooters stepping up to anything larger than .22 lr. My kids enjoy shooting mine."
Well, I know it wasn't CCOYL's intended message, so I will add my 2-cents that the CZ-83 is much more than a "new shooters stepping up" weapon. It is a fully capable CCW. No bigger bore needed.
Ace: Dependabilty (CZ-83 - YES)
King: Accuracy (CZ-83 - YES)
Queen: Penetration (.380 FMJ - YES)
All other criteria (bore diameter, magazine capacity, sights, cost...) pales IMHO.
Do not feel outgunned because you "only" carry a .380.
.380=9mm=.38=.357 for all practical measurements. JHP may provide some increase in wound cavity diameter but at the price of penetration for anything short of (many) .357 JHP. For me, I feel very comfortable with .380 as long as it's FMJ. I've been an ER nurse for the past 15 years, helped treat many gunshot wounds, the most deadly being a well placed .380 in a VERY big man. He didn't make it. Less-than-accurate .357, 30.06, .45, 12 gauge, etc. lived. So, don't let "kids enjoy shooting" lure you into the mis-belief that you need something bigger to own an effective CCW. It has very low recoil and allows for easy, fast follow-up shots. It is as lethal as they come. It is an adult weapon. It is a fine choice.
Congratulations on your acquisition. Carry with pride. Draw with restraint.

Oh, p.s.
I have 3 sets of Marschal grips on on my PPK/S, CZ-82 and CZ-52 firearms. Pricey? Yes. The best there is? Yes.
Highly recommend.
If you're not in a hurry, follow Ebay. Once in a while, you will come across what you're looking for at a reduced price.

Thanks for the pics. Very nice looking gun. I haven't done a thorough search, but I think you did good on the money.
-
I ordered the Wolff spring kit, that seems like a good thing to have and only around $20. Saw grips on grips4u.net that look nice for around $70, but I'm in no hurry. I do like how the wood grips look against the satin nickel.
Another thing now on my list is to look for a deal on a surplus and get it coated. The ones I have seen here look amazing.
-
those are nice! makes me want to go and get one

I gotta stop visiting this forum!
Your win on GB had me go looking. Saw one similar to yours with a buy it now of $350. Put in a bid, then in a couple days did the buy it now thing before someone else. Another is now posted with a $425 starting bid. I think we both did good!
I don't get a box or paper, and only 1 mag, but I'm pleased, it looks like its never or very very little fired.
The wait for the FFL to call is harder than waiting on the auction I think!
So what I'd like to ask is, what's your next CZ going to be?
-
Those satin nickel CZ 83s go well with a tux, gents! [emoji4] A fine score by both of you.
-
Sweet first CZ. I have Marschals on my 75 Compact - thinner than the CZ Shop wood grips.
You might try grips4u.net also. I have a set of theirs for my Sig.

Thanks for the grips4u tip! What did I say about stopping coming here? They've got grips for many of my pistols and revolvers, darn it! ;^)

Very sweet looking gun I bet it really shoots well too!
